Hi everyone.... I've recently caught the photography bug and invested in a Nikon 200, what i really like is taking sports photo's such as surfing, football... bla bla bla..... i got really lucky a few times with zoom type telephoto lens nikkor VR 70 - 300 which is not a pro lens but been good for me so far. I am looking to get a prime lens but really not sure what to get..... read all the magazines, websites etc... but only made me more confused. Any suggestions would be apreciated. Is there anywhere in Bangkok i can actually try out a lens before purchase.... ?

(bkkafterdark @ Sep. 22 2008,13:29) ..... read all the magazines, websites etc... but only made me more confused.
Anyway..I've a friend who owns the Nikon AF-S NIKKOR 24-70mm f/2.8G ED and he said it's probably the best Nikkor lens he ever had..but costs almost 2000 USD.
As for prime, he was talking well about the Nikon Nikkor AF 85mm f1.4 D Lens for portraits and low-light/interiors situations. But all depends what kind of photos you need to do. The 85mm also costs around 1000 USD. This is you think you'll move to full frame camera later on. If not there is a 60mm Nikon Nikkor AF 60mm f/2.8 D Micro Lens with Macro capabilitie too and priced at only
400 USD. But if you bought a D200...you are rich already
Or maybe you should have some wide-angle like the Nikon Nikkor 16mm f/2.8 D AF that on DX frame will be a classic 24mm wide without too extreme distortions. It costs about USD 600
Where is donnnnnny???

Mysterious leaked Nikon DSLR ads hint at something "big"
by Nilay Patel, posted Oct 2nd 2008 at 9:02PM
Man, the DSLR rumor mill never stops, does it? This time we're being treated to some leaked Japanese Nikon ads, which feature a shadowy DSLR body that's somewhat different than the D700 and D3 and the word "big" in Japanese. Of course, it could be totally fake, but we're not going to say we're not hoping for a compact full-frame camera -- but we're clearly dreamers. Anyone else have any guesses?

(donnnnnny @ Aug. 17 2008,15:36) I don't know weather this is a good picture or not, but for be ,i love it Nikon D80 shooting nikon raw high shutter speed 1/500sec f8 aperture, so some of the background is blurred out .
Great aperture choice, always good call to use f8-f11 for these type of shots. You prob could have her stand out even more by combining lower aperture and lightening angle (more light on face).
Composition wise really nice. Maybe bit more focus on her thighs and face. Check out this simple diagram (you prob know it) http://morguefile.com/archive/classroom.php?lesson=1 . Not sure if you know this site, but always proofs super useful to learn new stuff, or catch up: http://morguefile.com/archive/classroom.php
Attached nice reference I always use as starting principle for setting up / composing my shotAttached Files
