I must say that I was not expecting Australia to roll over as quickly as that, although once the backbone of the team (Mike Hussey) departed it was eazy peazy lemon squezy

With confidence now high in the England camp and Australia without a bowler whom the Poms fear.....it is difficult to see a way back for them and an England victory in Perth would see a half empty MCG on Boxing Day

    Australia to regain the ashes

    6/1

Australia not to regain the ashes

    1/10

And so here we are at the WACA ground for the 3rd Test in Perth.
Did I spot Pacman in the crowd reading ladyboy weekly

A good opening day for England with Australia posting a below par score, although, it would have been much worse without the ultra reliable Mike Hussey

I wonder how ticket sales are going at the MCG for the Boxing Day gig.

I'm joining the Barmy Army. There are 1000's of 'em here, all celebrating tonight down at the Lucky Shag bar...

a perfectly named place after what the Poms did to the Aussies today...

It will be a sell out as usual. If anything, even more people are tapping me for Guest passes this year

Johnson and Siddle were seeing some swing in the last session.

                        Oh dear....

England all out in the first innings for 187...

                        Now it gets interesting...

That's right folks. You read it here first before it even happened.

Johnson crushes the English top order and takes 6

The thing England have to fear most, is that more great Australian players find their form again.

Hey hey that was not supposed to happen, 0 for 180 odd at The Gabba and now all of a sudden Mitchel Johnson is swinging the ball and ripping England apart

And it with it the ashes series back in the balance

For those following this thread with no idea what's happening, here's a brief synopsis:

The Ashes Trophy is currently held by England. The Ashes series of 5 Test matches is currently being played in Australia to decide who gets to keep them till the next series.

Each Test last 5 days with each side having two turns to bat (two innings each in cricket parlance). The first Test was drawn. The second Test in Adelaide was won by England with an innings to spare. In other words they were able to bowl Australia out twice without needing to bat again to score extra runs.

An absolute disaster for the Aussie cricket fans. Australian cricket is in crisis mode with the selectors gambling on untried players & long time Test players looking to lose their place in the side due to poor form. Our Captain for a start!!

The Third Test is starting its third day with the outcome finely balanced. The first Australian innings went badly, then England's innings went worse. All commentators are predicting there will be a result from this match (the average Test match ends in a draw).

If Australia wins this Test, the series will be drawn, if England win, they will retain the Ashes. That is because there are only two more Tests to be played & if Australia won both of them, the series would be tied at two wins each.

For Australia to win back the Ashes they need to win at least two Tests & not allow England to win any of the next three. England need only draw the series to retain the Ashes, Australia have to win one extra Test to claim the prize. Not very likely but stranger things have happened in Cricket.
Despite the high cost of living, it continues to be popular.
