I'm going for a narrow England series win by 2 matches to 1 at odds of 10/1(BetFred) with two Test Matches drawn largely due to the dodgy Aussie weather they seem to be having.

I'm just back from Rio-de Janerio however, I hoping to get back down under to see some of the action within the next two months.

            yes yes yes....

As we all know England should on paper give the Aussies a sound thrashing. But they won't. 3-2 to Australia.

I'm going 3-2 to England, although the numbers might change due to weather as Pentire noted.

The first session at the Gabba should set the tone for the series...

Hopefully it will be a close contest no matter who wins.

The Poms are favourites and appear to be very confident in winning this series. My feeling is that they have become overconfident and this will play into the Aussie's hands.

This should be the series in Oz that England wins, but I reckon it won't be so easy.

(tomscam @ Nov. 22 2010,10:38) The Poms are favourites and appear to be very confident in winning this series. My feeling is that they have become overconfident and this will play into the Aussie's hands.
                  No Tom

Australia are favourites at Evens (1.1) with England 7/4  (1.75-1)

But this Australian side does not look nearly as strong as it has done for at least twenty years and official World Rankings would appear to back that up with England 4th and Australia only the 5th best team in the World at present.
The top three being India, South Africa and Sri Lanka.

Australia still top of the pile for one day cricket though.

                  Meanwhile....someone is feeling brave

A punter has staked £250,000 on England to beat Australia Down Under this winter - the biggest bet in Ashes history.

The Three Lions backer staked a cool quarter of a million on Andrew Strauss and his team to follow up last year's triumph by beating the old enemy away from home in a series for the first time since 1986-87.

As a result of the bet Ladbrokes cut England from 7/4 to 13/8 to win the series, and spokesman David Williams said: "As opening salvos go this has to be one of the bravest. It's a monster bet and a sure sign of the confidence behind the England team.

"They've got all the momentum and this bet has all but confirmed our position on the eve of the Ashes: we're terrified of an England win."

Australia are now 10/11 to regain the famous little urn, with a drawn series a 9/2 chance.

The perception in the Australian media is that the Poms are favourites to win the series. As far as odds go at the betting shop I would have no idea as I don't bet. The Aussie media is really down on this current team and the Captain and Vice-Captain as well as some others are under a lot of pressure to deliver. From what is being said on ABC news (the only one I watch), this is a pivotal series in the careers of Clarke, Hussey and maybe even Ponting.

I reckon it's a good thing that we are doubting our own team's ability to win. For many years winning was simply expected and no one here ever gave England a chance. Has the pendulum swung?

Yep, Hussey on his way to a double century.

                        Poms looking deflated.

Steady on, it's only the second day of a 5 day test. (Think about that baseball lovers)

The pitch is starting to crack & if England make a respectable score in their second innings, the Australians will be chasing their total on the final day as the wicket turns to shit.

Who am I kidding? The Poms will be lucky to pass the Aussie's score with their second turn at bat.
Despite the high cost of living, it continues to be popular.

No cigar for Hussey, out for 195.

Aussie 200 ahead at this stage.
