Interesting thread, I have just managed to read it from start to finish and I have to totally agree with Azza's opening comments, Australia used to be a great country and I used to be proud to live here but the older I get the more cynical I get about being fucked over by governments of all sorts in order to support the multi national companies who appear to be the GOD'S we all have to honor.
Global warming ( sorry climate change ) caused by humans ?? Yes 6 billion people breathing out hot air and carbon monoxide when will the brakes be put on population growth ? How will the planet feed and water the expanding population ?
I do not believe in the Climate Change crap we are being fed but rather it is just the natural progression of the planet.
Yes, as long as we have that stupid red headed bitch as out supposed leader we are Fucked !
Ohh I am also sick of living in a police state where nothing can be done... I remember when water tanks were BANNED in the seventies as a means of forcing the population into using the pay for use water, that is until the stupid government managed to nearly let us run out of water.
Cannot burn off leaves
Cannot go through hard rubbish collection
Cannot do any modification to YOUR property without some government / council authority that you have to pay for !
Cannot go anywhere without being videod by the authorities
Cannot modify your car
Cannot speed over 3 kph without a fucking camera taking your picture as you are a threat to society FUCKING REVENUE !
I am sure the Ozzies here can add many more to the above.
Yes, Thailand and the philippines may be third world countries they are possibly better than here !
I am about to go home to Aus for the first time in 6.5 years, and only cos my parents are getting very old and its time to see them.
I am really not looking forward to it. I won't drive a car there, as I know if some shit eating kiddie cop pulls me over for speeding and calls me "mate" through his mirrored sunglasses I will call him a rude name.
I dont want to go out there cos at 50 I am unworthy of the beautiful people to share the same atmosphere as them.
I dont want to shop there, buy cigarettes there, or to be honest, be there at all.
I have trimmed it back to the bones, got a driver, and will have stay well pissed the whole time.

Qantas leaves customer on hold for 15 hours
Your call is irrelevant to us, please hold all night http://www.theregister.co.uk/2012/08...hours-on-hold/

I've found Qantas to be not too bad, but there are many who hate it with unrivalled passion...
Unfortunately whenever gov't starts to think they know better than the general population chaos eventually ensues.
There needs to be a balanced approach - to regulate industry and corporations so they don't run roughshod over the general population (like the US Republicans believe), but also not to "baby" and second guess the population with regulations that stifle life.
f0xxee good luck with your visit, and for those Ozzies still there - I hope a political figure or party comes on the scene that will be sensible!
Latest Aus madness/Government Greed/Nanny State bullshit.
Maximum Duty free allowance for tobacco is now 50g or 50 sticks.... as per 1st September.
Fucking greedy, inane, femme-nazi, do-gooder, tree hugging, baby boomer, money grabbing, wowserish, pack of mullet wearing, bogan, yuppie, metrosexual, wankers.
This is so fucking typical: another way to make a quick and nasty cash grab from the people who can afford it least. (Lets face it: smokers are Lo-So... like me).
I hate the fucking government, I hate the fucking alternative government, and for Sydney Siders, I would love nothing more that to see Julia G getting double pumped by Tony Abbott while Clover Moore is buggering him with a strap on... and then have some cunt throw a hand-granade into the room.
The country is fucked! And as soon as China starts playing hard ball on minerals as it develops its latest Colony (Formerly known as Sub Saharan Africa) the better.
The country is fucked. For once I sympathise with the Abo's... if you are middle class or lower we are all bruddahs now.
FUCK! (Oh... in case you were wondering I fly 2 FUCKING DAYS after the new Duty Free Regime kicks in....)
