(JaiDee @ Jun. 07 2010,10:28) I think Pitt's perfect role was Oceans 11
As it appears that "On the Road" is finally (!) going into pre-production, I'm only sad that Pitt is now too old to play Dean Moriarty (Neal Cassady). I think he would have been perfect for bringing Cassady to life on the big screen.
I just can't see anyone else being able to pull off that kind of role like the way I think he could have. As it stands, they got this guy Garrett Hedlund . . .
(Lefty @ Jun. 07 2010,10:57) Seven Samurai, I've not seen that I can recall.
Don't say that to a Japanese person upon inquiry. You'll invariably get the incredulous, "eeeeeeeeeh?" Most famous film in their (albeit mostly wack) history.
The Magnificent Seven was the western (in more ways than one, OH!) remake. In fact, in the beginning of The Magnificent Seven (henceforth "TM7") if you don't blink, it says, "Taken from The Seven Samurai...".
in honor of the original film yul brenner shaved his head to play the role of the head gunslinger/samurai and was from thenceforth known for his bald pate. when i was a kid i think TM7 was maybe my favorite movie. right up there with "Bridge on the River Kwai" -- another must-see.
(JaiDee @ Jun. 07 2010,10:28) I think Pitt's perfect role was Oceans 11 and even Oceans 12 [which sucked]; he's a slick dude and those roles were made for him.
I think some of his best roles were in films like...
- A River Runs Through It -Legends of the Fall - Spy Game - Babel...
Maybe not the most popular blockbuster money maker types as the Oceans series...Which I can't actually sit down and watch all the way through...
I didn't really care for him or his role in Inglorious B...Any more then I like Tom Hanks role in The Davinci Code...In my opinion there was a bit of miscasting in both films...But they made lots of bucks so who am I to say...Hollywood films are much more about money more than about art...

(Lefty @ Jun. 06 2010,18:02) I've never heard of your friend Pierre,
Hi my friend Lefty...
Pierre the Goat Fucker, a synopsis:
A frenchman. He has climbed Mt Everest.... but do they call him Pierre the Mountain Climber? No.
He dived with Jacques Cousteau... but do they call him Pierre the Diver? No.
He Explored the dark and Dangerous Amazon... but do they call him Pierre the Explorer? No.
But you fuck one goat........
An oldie but a goodie.
That's funny Foxxee. I'd heard it long ago, or something along those lines, but had forgotten. I used to be the main joke teller in my working days, so had a large repertoire in my memory banks. But as we got more PC, my jokes stopped coming as often, reduced to a crawl, followed by virtually total stoppage. After that my joke memory banks seemed to dry up. Use it or lose it I guess. See Travis? I said lose, not loose, just like always.

I agree. They say in any little dig someone says to you, which ends with "hey
I was just kidding buddy." has a grain of truth in them as well.
Back to the original point, too many people are hung up on the sex lives of others, as the primary description of that person. It's titillating I suppose.

Reservoir Dogs is a brilliant movie IMO. QT at his best. I've seen it about ten times I'd guess. Maybe more. Soundtrack, as with most from QT, is outstanding.

If I'm ranking QT movies, it's never near the top, but I think it's more the others are greater, though RD is great too. I consider True Romance a QT movie, since he wrote it and his influence is readily apparent. Though it was directed by Tony Scott, who is more well known for other movies like Top Gun and Enemy of the State. That said, I rank QT movies this way:
1. Inglourious Basterds
2. Pulp Fiction
3. Jackie Brown
4. True Romance
5. Death Proof
6. Reservoir Dogs
7. Kill Bill 1 and 2
They are all a 10 out of 10 grade from me though.

Agree with you re: Res Dogs soundtrack. In fact I heard the sound track many times before seeing the movie.
I take my hat of to QT... he knows how to Score a movie.

The only soundtrack of his I'm not crazy about is Basterds. The music was fine for the movie, but not one I would buy to just listen to on it's own. I did like the Bowie song, but the rest were instrumental only.
