For me it's the best sitcom of all time, by far.

I'd put Hogan's Heroes a distant 2nd; I Dream of Jeannie and Bewtiched somewhere in the mix, MASH and Green Acres as well.

But these 4 jokers from NYC somehow struck a chord with my generation and also now in reruns a whole new generation is getting turned on to them, as Jerry just gets richer and richer off a show about nothing.

Love it. One of the best things is how they have 2 or 3 different stories going...so even on reruns it's like 'Shit, I forgot that bit"

I did think the Final was a bit of a let down though...
Did you exchange a walk-on part in the war for a lead role in a cage

      agreed, it WAS lame

But I can watch about 95% of all the other shows they ever made right NOW.

Followed that show from the first season, first episode.....I had always liked Jerry as a standup and wanted to see his show take off; it almost didn't.....initial ratings were pretty anemic and it was almost cancelled after 13 eposides. Getting the cherished slot after "Cheers" at 9:30 on thursday nights kept it in the mix and then it became one of the most popular shows ever produced.

I used to work a few blocks away from the Soup Nazi.  I can't tell you how well they nailed things like that.  Brilliant.  Can watch any episode any time.

And I think it mostly translates.  In fact, a British friend of mine referenced the show not two hours ago.

My greatest "New York Moment":  Jerry caught my errant frisbee in Sheep's Meadow, Central Park.  And when I stopped and looked into the face of the person that caught it to thank them, he totally did that Seinfeld face, like when he's delivering a surprise -- ta-DAH! -- wide-eyed and big-smiled.  Never forget it.

George Costanza is one of the greatest characters in television history.

They stretched what was believable or possible to it's extreme limits, but didn't step past that line. That was its genius . . .

Never seen an episode.....in view of these comments perhaps I should make an effort however, American sitcoms have never done it for me........not in any way, shape or form

Me too, usually. But this one's worth a go, Pentire.  Start with the mid-seasons: season 4 or 5...

The best of all time. Period.

Yea, I too was a bit dispointed at the finale but the coutroom was a good way to revisit all the monor characters that appeared throughout the years.

A Continuation the "jewish - neurotic" sitcom that has been a staple of US TV since whenever. Not must see Teev for me I am afraid.

Best sitcom ever by a country mile. I never get tired of the reruns, no matter how often I watch them.

I liked all the characters, but my favorites were Kramer, and Frank Costanza. Jerry Stiller is a genius. One minor character I liked a lot was Elaine's boyfriend, David Puddy. Mr Peterman was hilarious too.

My favorite episode was The Hamptons.

I said Cheers was the best ever before Seinfeld came along though.

My Name is Earl could have eventually challenged for the top spot in my opinion, but those ASSHOLE BRAIN DEAD JERKOFF FUCKTARDS at nbc canceled it.

The nbc execs who made that decision should all be taken out, lined up along a wall and mowed down with an M60 like dirty filthy dogs.

Genius is the right word, and shouldn't be used often. The multi-storyline aspect makes the reruns like new again for me...The writing on that show was brilliant and, I believe, universal. I'm not Jewish and I'm not neurotic   but they absolutely nailed the minutiae

I came to see that Jerry was really me..we share the same ennui about modern relationships. In fact I wouldn't be surprised if he was into Ladyboys

Hard to pick a favourite moment. I just have flashbacks so many times..most recently was the 'big hands' episode. I met a woman just like that and couldn't get it out of my head every time I looked at her pudgy man hands

                          I agree.

Purile rubbish for a purile audience.

Frasier was much MUCH better. News Radio, Barney Miller and Cheers were also a class apart.
