I sorry to hear about you getting dinged on Autoroute # 10. I told you to hang around with me and ezflip for a poutine and beer but you wouldn't listen. 118 in an 80 is nasty since the QPP usually only tolerates 120 in a 100. But $160.00, yikes!!!
They told me if I was doing 2km more it would've been 200 bucks!! Ouch.....
QPP means the Quebec Provincial Police, they nabbed me cold .... and to all people going to or from Montreal, keep it slow on either side of the Pont Champlain; the speed drops from 100 to 80 with nary a warning!!
What is it with these outrageous fines. I got a $160 for a double parking not too long ago while I was picking someone up no less.
P.S. If you guys are ever in NYC, I'm from here but bring your own poutine, we NY'ers like our fries without the added stuff
Maybe I sound insensitive but its not the case at all. I do care! But if I had to live my whole life based on how everyone might be sensitive to me.. I would not be living my life as I want it. So you can accept me and my flaws as I am or you can't.
$160 sucks but is not outrageous. I got one for $655 + 2 demerit points last year. That hurts.
The transition area for the highway in Montreal drops from 100 to 70 and since Quebec drivers DO believe that they are the re-incarnation of Gilles Villeneuve, the regular flow of traffic is usually 120 on a 100km/h.
That sucks ez. But at least only 2 points on the license, here I think that's a 8 point one and only takes 6 points to get license suspended for a while.
P.S. is fighting the fine in court pretty much hopeless for you too? I took witnesses and still had to pay the fine. The judges pretty much looked upon me as their food and chewed me up.

I guess if you're going to do the crime, be prepared to pay the fine. If you don't want to pay fines for speeding, then don't exceed the speed limit, or buy a radar detector.

I know this sounds , but I was in a 100km an hour area for about an hour and usually watch my speed very well .... but as you approach the bridges which lead into Montreal it quickly drops to 80 and I never saw that .......I was doing 118 and he nabbed me; if I was still in the 100 zone 1km back he would've let it slide.
Quite sure the coppers set up the speed traps right there for a reason, you know??
I was charged two points.....he said if I was at 120 I would have had 3 points and I higher fine. And I will certainly be more careful on successive trips to MTL
