  • How Israel and the US Israeli (paid) lobby write hypocritical US/Iran foreign policy which is against the best interests of the wider M.E. and Europe AND the USA.

The Fourth Round of Sanctions on Iran
    The End of "Tough Diplomacy"?
    http://counterpunch.org/sasan06102010.html
By SASAN FAYAZMANESH June 10, 2010

Prior to the 2008 US presidential election, in an essay entitled €œWhat the Future has in Store for Iran,€ I predicted that regardless of who is elected president, the US foreign policy toward Iran will be determined largely by Israel and its various lobby groups in the US, especially the American Israel Public Affairs Committee (AIPAC) and its affiliate the Washington Institute for Near East Policy (WINEP). In particular, I predicted that if Barack Obama becomes President, Dennis Ross, Obama€™s closest advisor on Iran and the former director of WINEP, will play a leading role in determining the policy. Based on Ross€™s writings and WINEP€™s publications, I foresaw Obama to pursue a €œtough€ or €œaggressive diplomacy€ with Iran. The diplomacy, as Ross and WINEP had formulated, would give an ultimatum to Iran in a face to face meeting, telling Iran to either accept US-Israeli demands or face aggression. I concluded my essay by stating that if Obama is elected, and if Iran does not capitulate to the whims and wishes of the US and Israel, then we might see a period of €œtough diplomacy€ before hostilities begin....

          • It must be true if Americas "Newspaper of record" says it is. Wonder where the strings are?

            Via the NYT: http://www.nytimes.com/2010/06/10/wo...t/10prexy.html

President Obama promised a $400 million aid package for the West Bank and Gaza on Wednesday, as the United States scrambled to come up with a way out of the stalemate in the Middle East exacerbated by the Gaza flotilla incident last week.

Mr. Obama, meeting with Palestinian Authority President Mahmoud Abbas at the White House, said that the money would go to housing and schools. White House officials said that the money also would help increase access to drinking water and to help address health and infrastructure needs.

€œWhile we work with our partners in the Palestinian Authority, Israel, Egypt, and the international community to put such a strategy in place, these projects represent a down payment on the United States€™ commitment to Palestinians in Gaza, who deserve a better life and expanded opportunities, and the chance to take part in building a viable, independent state of Palestine, together with those who live in the West Bank.€

Obama, the ADC and the Gaza Flotilla
              http://counterpunch.org/loewenstein06102010.html
By JENNIFER LOEWENSTEIN June 10, 2010
MV Rachel Corrie, a boat named after the twenty-three year old American activist crushed to death by an armored D-9 Caterpillar Bulldozer on March 16th 2003 as she attempted to prevent it from demolishing another Palestinian home. (More than 17,000 people from Rafah, Gaza had been made refugees twice and thrice over as a result of Israel€™s policy of demolishing homes along the Philadelphi Corridor near the Egyptian border). Corrie wore a blaze orange vest and carried an orange bullhorn when the driver of the bulldozer trapped her under a mound of dirt and drove over her body twice, breaking her back shortly before she died.

Unsurprisingly the US has yet to insist that an independent investigation into Rachel Corrie€™s death take place. Neither has the US approved even the least critical of the independent investigations into Israel€™s attack on Gaza in December-January 2008-9, the Goldstone Report. €˜Operation Cast Lead€™ was the very embodiment of the €˜supreme international crime€™ of aggression and should have led to the arrest and incarceration of its perpetrators for war crimes at the International Court of Justice at the Hague; but of course, it did not. Hence, it should come as no surprise that US representatives stood alone again at the United Nations last week just after the deadly raid on the Gaza Freedom Flotilla, arguing that Israel should be allowed to investigate its latest crime of aggression and murder all by itself.

Arab and Muslim-Americans are hardly surprised that state terror directed against their people here or overseas requires no special attention or concern within any US administration. Obama€™s insult to the ADC occurred exactly one year after his widely acclaimed speech in Cairo, Egypt in which he promised a change in US foreign policy toward Middle East and Islamic nations.

What distinguishes the Obama administration€™s Middle East foreign policy from that of the Bush administration and those before it is the rhetoric in which its fundamental continuity is enveloped. This is especially disappointing €“and dangerous€”for anyone who hoped that non-violent solutions and a basic adherence to international law would finally prevail.

Like its US patron, Israel continues to promote state-of-the art-global violence €“ even when that means executing citizens of US-allied nations for resisting its spiral into madness. When US politicians, pundits and media spokespeople congratulate Israel and its special Naval Commando units for assaulting a NATO partner€™s ship carrying 700 peace activists tired and ashamed of the persistent international silence over the sadistic destruction of the land, culture and identity of the Palestinians, Arab-Americans are not the only group of people who should be both sickened and aghast.

I don't know why you bother posting anything Mr T.The likes of azza and guy will never read it...as I said earlier "pearls before swine"

I too deplore the muslim fundamentalists in Europe,I would gladly burn all fundamentalists,Muslim Jewish Christian and Hindu....but that has nothing to do with the the plight of the Palestinians.

We are talking about basic human rights, and the denying of those rights by Israel. Some are blinded by their hatred of muslim fundamentalists, and I can understand that,I hate them myself,as any thinking person should .But thats a different issue.

I stand by my comments on Rachel Corrie, anyone who has read the eyewitness accounts and listened to their testimony can only reach one conclusion, cold blooded murder.BTW guy, what happened to the Israeli army video of her murder..."accidentally" wiped it didnt they?

Well she has been removed from the gene pool due to her decision to put flesh up against a bulldozer... clearly that fits the criteria for the Darwin awards.

Btw this is my favourite... i really think it suits this thread nicely.

5 September 1999, Jerusalem    In most parts of the world, the switch away from Daylight Saving Time proceeds smoothly. But the time change raised havoc with Palestinian terrorists this year.

Israel insisted on a premature switch from Daylight Savings Time to Standard Time to accommodate a week of pre-sunrise prayers. Palestinians refused to live on "Zionist Time." Two weeks of scheduling havoc ensued. Nobody knew the "correct" time.

At precisely 5:30pm on Sunday, two coordinated car bombs exploded in different cities, killing three terrorists who were transporting the bombs. It was initially believed that the devices had been detonated prematurely by klutzy amateurs. A closer look revealed the truth behind the explosions.

The bombs had been prepared in a Palestine-controlled area, and set to detonate on Daylight Saving Time. But the confused drivers had already switched to Standard Time. When they picked up the bombs, they neglected to ask whose watch was used to set the timing mechanism. As a result, the cars were still en-route when the explosives detonated, delivering the terrorists to their untimely demises.

I am pretty sure the Corrie family asked for an american investigation but was denied by the US government of course as they cant go against Israel on any issue.

                          • my reference was to the very recent comment of the Corrie family in my 2nd last (or so) post.
In the damages suit filed by the Corrie family it is stated that no thorough and objective investigation was held into the death, which the family maintains occurred either because of intent or the bulldozer driver's negligence.
As you see, the Corrie family themselves are not running around shouting 'cold blooded murder proved beyond a reasonable doubt', unlike our friend tb.

According to tb, they must be ill informed because they dare to entertain the mere possibility that this was an accident or even gross negligence, rather than an intentional act of murder under orders.

Travis, there's something I noticed about the developed world that I'm sure you might have seen along the way too:

The value of an adult human life is nothing. It is happening all over the world, look at south american tribes being exterminated in the name of industrial development. Deforestation leads to them losing their livelyhood. They're just pushed out of the way, either through cash or by killings and no one cares.

As horrific as this whole thing with the crushing by bulldozer death might be, if she was 13 years old instead of 23 or if there were 1000 people willing to be crushed and massacred while sticking to non-violent principles (message boards not bombs), the world would have cared, but people just dismiss it as 1 stupid girl with no common sense gone, who cares?

1 life is nothing. Sad but true.

Maybe I sound insensitive but its not the case at all. I do care!  But if I had to live my whole life based on how everyone might be sensitive to me.. I would not be living my life as I want it. So you can accept me and my flaws as I am or you can't.

They have murdered scores of Palestinians in a similar manner, names we will never have heard of.Being Palestinians ,they don't count.
