        And one final image.

This is hanging behind me on the wall in my office as I type, it's an original (super rare) promotional poster for the Pink Floyd "The Wall" concerts in Los Angeles. I drove from Seattle to Los Angeles for the first show - Feb. 7 1980 - and it's still one of the greatest memories of my life.

They played 6 shows in LA, then 6 in New York, then London, Dusseldorf Germany, then London again a year later.

Other than Live Eight, these were the final live performances with Roger Waters, and one of the most spectacular concerts of all time.

                    • (deepthroat @ Feb. 22 2010,10:41) 4. Pink Floyd - Dark Side of the Moon.
....Perhaps my favorite album of all time.
I think on balance, I would have to agree with you.

I have loved 1000's of artists & their albums but I can't think of any that come closer to the sustained perfection Pink Floyd managed with Dark Side of the Moon. A local poll a few years back gave the prize to Sergeant Peppers Lonely Heart Club, just ridiculous IMO.

I saw Roger Waters in concert 2 years ago (with the giant floating pig) & he played the entire album from start to finish. Note perfect, it was quite surreal how close it was to the studio version. Their David Gilmour stand-in could well have been David, that's how good he was.
Despite the high cost of living, it continues to be popular.

                          • Aint it funny how the kids these days seem to think the 70's was all about disco ?

We could start another thread on how many great albums came out in '76... What a year.

Here's a trip down the West Coast sound of the time...

                            • Punk was best, God I worked as a tape op on this album & had the great privilage of working with Steve Lilywhite. It was my first LP credit. Never forget mixing the album down at the end and going to a Pizza House in Hampstead for a meal getting them to put the cassette on the in house muzak system. Hearing it for the first time in public. Fu#k me I thought I was famous at 22.

Remember "The sound of the Suburbs". Best white Punk Reggae, Offshore banking business which was a piss take on one of the lads dads.
