Very simple, for those of you lucky enough to live in a civilized country i.e. the EU, Canada, Australia, New Zealand, etc would you trade your health system for the system in place in the U.S. ?

Despite its obvious faults, the UK NHS works well, with a team of very dedicated drs and support staff.

The United Kingdom's much maligned National Health Service is ok so far as I am concerned.....it's just a shame that economic immigrants & unemployable dossers place such a huge burden on it
Waiting lists grow longer therefore many of us earning an honest living pay high health insurance just to give us the option of going private should the unfortunate need arise.

I think the NHS is fantastic but at times a bit badly run. My GF is a nurse and you should hear some of the horror stories she comes home with. I still have private anyway (payed for by myself) just incase. If it's a minor thing I don't mind the NHS but if it's something seroius it's nice to know it can be taken care of quickly.

As an Aussie who lived in the UK last year I was surprised how well the NHS worked. I was working there and therefore paying taxes but didn't expect to see the Doc for free as I'm not a citizen. I was dumbfounded that everything was for free and no questions asked. Great system.
Australia's system has been eroded and there aren't many free Doctors left. The UK system I think is better.
NZ doesn't have free healthcare, much like US.

Totally Agree 100%..I go Private and have nothing to do with the state offering . I would not pay a penny in tax towards it if i had the chance.

There is most definitely something terribly wrong with a nation that spends billions upon billions on a killing industry but won't spend a penny on the health of it's citizens...

                      Empire vs the Republic

There's no money to be made out of giving away free healthcare. But if you take over another country and "free" them then there's billions to be made.

                        did anybody bother reading this?
this is very much what is wrong with the uk NHS,can i just walk into any other place and get free medical............mostly flat fuckin no!
somebody somewhere paid high taxes for your treatment, its why the cost of living in the UK is out of control, its all fucked up.nobody should get med treatment unless they pay for it or show uk citizenship..........simple.

i injured my back in april, ive paid for my own painkillers and had to pay private fees to an osteopath because i needed fast help and treatment for severe pain, which left me unable to work, did i get adequete help from NHS.........no ,its was 4 months before i got to see a consultant in spinal, then another 2 months before i got referred to a physio for treatment,a fuckin disgrace is what i call that, left in terrible pain and unable to work no income and all the dr could do was offer me morphine, useless.i suggest if you get ill in the uk,its best if you would plan it and give the doctors some notice beforehand, kind of like a holiday really, get your planning right and it will be fine...............considering how many billions this cost the uk working man every year....yes it works of course it does but how well is another matter ................rant over

                            Denmark, haha... Denmark...

theres now a tax there on fat food. Butter now costs 30% more.

That's what socialistic solidarity systems produce: coercion, less liberties.

If u paid shed loads of tax - why did you not insure yourself against such a situation? I left the UK approx: 13 years ago and had private BUPA cover with my employer - but never needed to use it for anything - however as any Brit knows - the NHS is SUPERB in a life threatening situation - anything not life threatending becomes more problematic - which is why so many take out private insurance to cover exactly these kinds of "non critical to live" problems.

You can argue all day about how right or wrong it is - but most just deal with it and work out whats best for them. i.e if your a roofer - and get a bad back - you cant work - so you need to consider insuring against such a situation - this is nothing new - low cost products have been around for 20 years at least.

                              Cheers
