it is not about having the right or not to do things, it is about power.
The IAEA or what ever letter combination they are using this month agrees, as they inspect all the facilities. Does the USA and Israel allow such inspections?

That's not how power works.
Exactly, If you think of the U.S. as a mafia, you begin to understand their true motivations for why they behave the way they do.
A mafia boss cannot let moves by other players, that he perceives as challenges, go unanswered. So, if a country/rival mob, starts trying to acquire weapons that could be a threat, it must be dealt with, in a way that not only gets rid of the problem, but that also lets others know what will happen to them if they should get out of line.
People said the invasion of Iraq was about oil, that's partly true, but really it was more about this mob, letting the other "families" know who was in charge, and what others could expect should they offer any kind of a challenge to the boss.
You are absolutely correct, Turorot, they way the U.S has behaved historically in the region, and in fact all over the world, is TOTALLY HYPOCRITICAL. It will say and do whatever it has to to maintain its position.
Everything else is just rhetoric.

Torurot, I don't believe the Iranian government. I think they fully intend to make a bomb. Then again....if everyone in the middle east nukes each other I wouldn't really care either. It would get rid of a lot of rogue nations.
Better yet that we eliminate oil as an energy source and take away their political power and influence in world affairs. The developed countries of the world created the "Irans" and "Iraqs" and we should all take responsibility for fixing that problem once and for all.
It's because of such attitudes that there are unnecessary wars. You don't care because it's NOT in your backyard. How about the war being brought straight to the "homeland" Al. Would you still think the same?? Somehow I doubt it!!
(Torurot @ Aug. 17 2009,00:45) USA... Hypocrite nation.

I'd like you to point out any government that isn't based on complete hypocrisy and lies.........The USA is by far not the only offender in this statement. Personally I think Alan's about "no caring" if all the mideast nations is completely idiotic and shows the right wing mantra of the US but to make a blanket statement that US=Hypocrite nation is not even close to right either.

If I heard it once from the old man, I heard it a thousand times -- when the going gets tough you find out who your real friends are, and that's why we must stay. Because there will be championships, and this staff and these kids will bring those championships here."

Yah, this will happen anyway. Oil has peaked already IMO and the Arabs will be making sand castles in 30 years time ...can they all become the next Dubai...i doubt it
Methane is the next Oil... . Theres a trillion tons of the stuff locked in ice deposits which will last for a 1000 years... its not clean but i doubt if that will matter once they get the tech to clean it up.

Wait...
If the western world reduces the importance of oil in such a way that we can do without Iran, Iraq and Saudi Arabia, Venezuela, etc. ...
This can't be done without massive use of nuclear power.
And that's something we don't want many countries to have...
Which means that while the western world turns away from oil, the developing countries will still depend on it.
That in turn means that we will let the oil-exporting countries dominate the developing countries ??
>US=Hypocrite nation is not even close to right either.
Of course it is. One could easy write a LONG list of the political, and diplomatic hypocrisy of the USA. No one does it better. Think about it. They are not alone, only more obvious.
US readers are likely blind to it because Fox (the spin begins here) does not report on US govt hypocrisy!
I believe it. Or I should say this was certainly more true when the shrub was in office.
These days they're going after the government with everything they have. This is especially true in regard to health care right now.
It is also true that most Americans have bought the standard "We are and have always been the good guys" myth about the U.S. You know, this is the world-view espoused by the "journalists" at Faux "News," fundamentalist christians, the republican party and people who watch NASCAR.

Oil has peaked? The Middle east will run out in 30 years?
I cannot agree TC. Yes in the UAE: they have a bout 30 years reserves left. Hence the Clever Clog Sheiks there having the good sense to build Dubai as a commercial hub/tourist interchange on the Singapore Model. (Which, incidently has some of the largest above ground reserves in the world, all sitting nicelty at anchor offshore).
The others (Saudi, Iraq etc) have well over 100 years at current rates. I have heard 200 years but think this is probably optimistic. Do note however that resovoir engineers tend to be pesimistic when making reserve forecasts.
