(Bumpa STIKKA @ Jun. 30 2010,21:05) and will continue to do so.
    until they don^t.

The key is to determine if the dividend is sustainable.

For example, BP is questionable but a utility stock is more likely sustainable.

Dangerous times ahead,  A death cross is imminent in the USA markets and I believe it has already occured in the FTSE.

That^s when the 50 day moving average breaches the 200 day moving average.  Traders believe this is important so can be a self fufilling phropecy.

My short position is larger than ever.

Just checked it back to 1983 on my S & p data .. gives a few false signals but i can see why your shorts are larger (so to speak)...

(Bumpa STIKKA @ Jul. 01 2010,12:05) If you are a share holder for the medium to long term in the UK then there are many offering yields of 10% and will continue to do so.
I own a Japanese based REIT yielding around 18% (historically) - just went ex div couple of days back... fell 25% so far

You can now pick it up at 23% yield and price/nta of 0.4 -- so much for funymentalanalysis

Looking at the data, it seems that a golden cross is a better upside indicator than the death cross is for the downside.

I think being short is the place to be and those who are not comforatble shorting should be out of equities.

not surprising, since a lot of investors are not allowed to short.

              what are you shorting, PD?

I just took a look at the stats...
Traded volumes are huge, inspite most private investors being already dry.
                This could get very ugly.

I guess most funds are changing their allocation and reduce their stocks exposure.

I am keeping it simple and shorting the S&P500 using the ticker SH. I suppose I could slice and dice but I like that this ETF has heavy volume.

Good option IMO, low cost, and far simpler than physically shorting.

We have mini shorts here in oz... may have mentioned them before....

They are a deep in the money option product but delta is fixed at 1.0 and a built in stop loss.

eg ANZKZT or ANZKZX take a look on asx.com.au if you havent seen these derivatives before.
