I find it quite funny myself how greng jai or'' saving face'' moves between whores and there customers in the kingdom, i find it repressive in the thai workforce as ive worked in thailand before but find it fuking pathetic and hilarious how all kinds of nonsense get put into the catagory of loosing face, does anybody else out their find it funny that old out of shape men with young boys dressed up like girls who sell their mangina publically are always bringing up greng jai issusues, i mean its enjoyable to me to realize as an adult that theres so many flakes out there..no dont take offense, no names have been mentioned im just curious if any of you have any insights on this your self that i might enjoy. its actaully one of the main things that keeps thai people in line so well but also represses them..figured i might be entertained or learn something from u guys..will see, thx dax.

its all loada bullshite, honesty consideration for others being curteous and tact are allways good things,but the whole save face thing as youve pointed out as the street "girl sees it" is bullshite, connected also to certain "figureheads" sometimes (i choose my words carefully)......bullshite indeed. but i think some guys here allready know my views on " idolatry"

by the same token ,i guess if you took away some idiosyncrasy such as save face then thailand may not be such the place to go to as it is at present.

"face" is not unique to Thailand. Having a Chinese-Canadian heritage it was hard to understand this "face" thing from my parents compared to what my non-Chinese friends were brought up with.

After working oveseas in the Arabian Gulf and China for a number of years I've come to the understanding that the idea your own culture is superior and that other cultural standards are nonsensical is hubris.

There are good and bad aspects for all cultures and to mock something reflects much more on the person complaining about it.
