This would explain some Thai's misuse of english as mentioned above. I except that.

Flaming people on an international site for imperfect use of English is a good example of the lack of respect being discussed in this thread.

Regarding face, reassuring your date that you are not embarrassed is probably a better use of your time than getting in a fight with ignorant people. They are everywhere and you can't win with retaliation.

There is indeed a forum rule that prohibits flaming a non-English speaking poster for his/her use of English...

There is however, a second unwritten rule that allows flaming when a poster is clearly a wanker...

I believe the latter rule is being followed here...

            i taught english in thai...
And here I was blaming the Thai people for their poor standards of English comprehension!

Do Thailand a favor and please never teach them English again! I promise that they'll be better for it!

serious tho being able to spell every word correct and punctuate is in no way a measure of someones intellect or capabilities or knowledge, some of the dumbest, bigoted ignorant assholes that i know have degrees.
i abrev a lot.the ability to communicate and understand in different ways is far more important than the ability to include all your punctuation marks.
my last thai GF was a deaf mute a very sweet girl........so any spoken word was utterly useless more important was the ability for us to communicate by any means possible.and we did well.

Very true , but no one here is judged on that and anyone who's first language is not English is certainly not .

To post in SMS style language though is just plain lazy , its not much to ask that if English is your language you try to make your posts understandable .

@Jim It shows a lack of respect for the BMs who have to read poorly punctuated, badly formatted copy.

Thats actually interesting to me coming from you, what was your last g/f's name out of curiousity?

The first Thai girl I ever met was slighty deaf but was a mute girl.

That was back in July 2001 and I went back to see her for 2 years.

In fact if it wasnt for her "greedy bitch" of a mother and "pisspot" of a father it might have been longer.

She was such a "sweet" girl also and I "DO" know what you mean about communication, you can and do get by

                                Quoting myself from another thread:

there is no such thing as losing face unless you are a narrow minded asian or a cocky latent italian homo........

Hope my english is good enough not to lose face, if not there is always that vendor selling Bin Laden rubber masks.

Losing face is paying 5000 bhat for st...........
