Probably the most sensible post on Belfast so far
Belfast - the place were murderers (both Protestant & Catholic ) are treated as celebrities , the British government throw money at them , while the rest of the people try to do an honest days work .

 well put, Jim ...... if you notice, I didn't put any politics into my posts and would rather not start any fights;  just said that it was truly amazing spending time on the Falls Road and seeing  Sinn Fein  HQ  with the big mural of  Bobby Sands on the side.  Think about it; as a yank of Irish ancestry this is a place one HAS to see, kind of the same for a Brit who may want to where the St. Valentines Massacre happened or visiting the Twin Towers memorial;   it doesn't mean you agree with the terrorists, you just have to see them out of historical curiousity.

  I won't pretend to know more about "The Troubles" than  you Brits and Micks, you were all on the front lines for years and years while we watched from an ocean away ..... those of us who even knew; ask a typical Yank if there was a civil war in Ireland from the late 60's to basically 4 or 5 years ago and you'd get met with "huh?"  But of course having Irish blood I wish the country could have been unified;  to this day I don't understand Stormont or other facets of that foolish war and certainly feel bad about the thousands of casualties. And while I believe in the cause of the   IRA and by extension their political arm in SF, no sane person can agree with the way they went about trying to gain their freedom for 30-odd years;  blowing up school buses and bombing police barracks ain't the way to get "peace!"

          Lovely country, both north and south....amazing history and scenery, friendly people, so many positives and yet the war has brought so many negatives..... fact is the majority still rule in Ulster, they still want to be ruled by London, and the Irish minority will probably never see a totally unified Ireland in our lifetimes.

I wouldn't advise it unless you like eurotrash and lagerlouts

as someone who thinks Pattaya is a shithole, Ibiza will definitely not be to your taste

that's a bummer, Mick ..... I don't like pattaya 'cause it smells like an open sewer 24/7, have never been anywhere else that smells like that

Ibiza....have heard good and bad, I DO still like to party hard despite my advanced age so I'd always thought I'd check the place out

haven't heard anything from anyone who's been to CANCUN, please do share as it could be a future holiday spot for me ..... we get great package deals from this area and it's only like 4 hours by plane, hell I can do that standing on my head.
