          • One more Dr Hook song, sung by the incomparable Dennis Locorriere. This album cover is one of their most memorable, at least to me.

Waylon and Willie's rendition of the same song:

Here is Waylon singing solo. I had this album back in 1975-76 and wore it out I played it so much. Very few singers could equal Waylon for voice IMO.

This song, along with countless other great songs was written by Shel Silverstein. He had very few equals as a poet and songwriter.

            • Used to drive from LA to Vegas convention twice a year on business.

You cant beat Country music for a 4 hour seat slouch with the Sun beating down. I like Randy Travis and also had a Highwaymen tape with Waylon , Willie , Kris Kristofferson and i forget the other guy but that was good.

              • I've made that drive myself. I can't listen to country music for 4 hours straight but the last time I arrived in Vegas, it was 9pm having listened to an oldies radio station for the last 2 hours of the drive. They played nothing that was recorded after 1965 & we sang every word of every song. I had a few friends from home in the car.

BTW, we stopped at that casino on the border of Cal & Nevarda & went on that giant roller coaster. We still talk about it. None of us have ever been on anything like it since. 5 minutes of fun that I will remember the rest of my life.

And we booked into the Luxor for 49 bucks a night. Deal.
Despite the high cost of living, it continues to be popular.

there used to be Nevada station or was it a show called " SOFT 100" which was nice and easy on the ears .. those Yanks certainly have better radio stations and that is a fact.

                            • Hey Alaskan Bear,
Here is Dave Dudley's version of "Six days on the road". This one I'm much more familiar with. Dave took the song to #2 on the Billboard Country Chart.
If anyone watches this can you tell me the name of the movie that the truck shown at 1:05 is in? Movie quiz mixed with music.
