    what the fuck aulion:

or how about running over an american protestor with a bulldozer because she was standing there?? is that the kind of society we should support?
i dont know the story why he got shoot, but i guess he was warned several times but didnt think anyone could actually harm is leftie ass. i've seen this in norway too. protestors throwing bricks and molotov-coctails at the police. when the police respond, they cry for police brutality.

    anyway this aussie-guy didnt die.

so u think that is brutal??

maybe u want sharia-laws in the west?? do u defend women being raped and then be stoned to death cos they are not clean??

the funny thing is that you seem to enjoy free speech, go to middle east, they cut your throat if you dare to critcise the imans or the powers.

the only sane state in middle-east is israel, why cant you lefties see that, or is that you hate USA so much. i cannot really believe you can defend the terrorist-actions of palestine, lebanon and syria. israel have never been the aggressor, but i am sure you would see this differently. but if hamas stopped their sucide attacks and hizbollah stopped their random bombing and returned the kindnapped soldiers, israe would pull back.

but at the moment, israel treat them what they are - animals...

(Stewart @ Jul. 20 2006,22:24) now exactly HOW are you going to get to this utopia?
If I could execute that strategy then I'd have Kofi's job instead of posting on a transexual forum!

Here in Bali, the Jakarta Post has a much different take on the situation than the Bangkok Post. As with many conflicts, the perspective is different on the other side of the street.

(olekunde @ Jul. 26 2006,23:15) the only sane state in middle-east is israel, why cant you lefties see that, or is that you hate USA so much. i cannot really believe you can defend the terrorist-actions of palestine, lebanon and syria. israel have never been the aggressor, but i am sure you would see this differently. but if hamas stopped their sucide attacks and hizbollah stopped their random bombing and returned the kindnapped soldiers, israe would pull back.

no, sorry, there are no sane states in the middle-east. maybe its something in the water, i dunno...

no, saying I don't like it when a U.S. citizen is run over by a bulldozer doesn't mean i don't like the U.S. that's a strange conclusion to draw..

yeah yeah if hizbollah did this than israel woud do this, and if israel released hizbollah soldiers then hizbollah would release israeli soldiers, it goes on and on. just trying to justify their actions. the truth is Israel has been dying for a chance to get in and disable Hizbollah. and hizbollah gave them that opportunity.

israel has never been the aggressor? what about land day and israel's continued expropriation of land that arabs live on in Israel proper and the palestinian territories?

and don't forget how israel was formed. before and after world war 2, pro-israeli groups comitted terrorist acts in palestine against the arabs and the british. even bombing the british embassy in Rome in 1946 and sending postal bombs to british cabinet ministers. the arabs attacked and displaced were both muslim and christian.

so, no, i still don't see much difference in either side, except that israel has more expensive weapons now. and of course, with that, israel is killing much more people now than the palestinians, lebanese, syrians and iranians combined.

they're animals? wow. it's that kind of thinking that helps keep the situation the way it is. treat them like that and watch them grow up hating you.

more news on the "sane state" today

        using chemical weapons?

oops! we accidentaly on purpose blew up a UN base, then fired upon rescuers.

we just have to agree on disagree.

i cannot argue with someone with so much faith in journalists as you. maybe you should read more then the headlines; i quote:
"We are sending off samples tomorrow, but we have no confirmation yet that illegal weapons have been used," Health Minister Mohammed Khalife said."

if i did bother to search for bad things the muslims had done i could probably fill the up ATS server, both with international and domestic violence and cruelty.

you just have to open your eyes dude. how much cruelty isnt islam causing? everywhere in the world where there are muslims, there is a fucking war. even in thailand. is this a coincidence?

everything we have fought for in the the west, like freedom of speech, womens rights etc, would be in vain if we let these crazy fuckos get their way.

            (Stewart @ Jul. 20 2006,22:24)
What's needed is a combination of force along with a better life for the avearge Arab on the street who is trying trying to live a good life, work, and support his family.
And who can argue with that? So, lots of fluffy nice words - now exactly HOW are you going to get to this utopia?
No Stewart - you're wrong. If we give them all the Arabs and Muslims a nice well paid job and a house then all the violence would stop right away and the world would be pretty and lovely! They would embrace Christians as brothers and treat women as equals. It always happens when you give someone a job and a nice place to live. They just forget all about their brainwashed belief system and start acting like regular civilised folk.

Oh my goodness... I can't belive that the answer to this problem is so simple.

Anyone have Kofi Annans email addy?

sure, olekunde, we should agree to disagree. but i'd like to reply to your comments.

if you don't have faith in the journalists (which it would be silly to blinbdly do) then where are you getting your information from?

yeah, im sure muslims are causing violence too. but that's not a good enough reason to do the same thing. at least that's not the christian way of thinking, which i subscribe too (although im not a practicing christian and i dont believe in all the myths). we got that "turn the other cheek" thing going, which seems to have worked for us for a while, considering the development of our societies. This christian moral was a reaction to the jewish "cheek for a cheek" moral. which is what i disagree with, especially the recent responses of israel which seem to be a "head for a cheek".

and i agree, there's no way i want groups like hizbollah to have any influence on the world. but israel is really feeding those groups with what it does. that's the problem. allowing israel to destroy the lives of another generation in any country really won't defeat those groups, is there anyone who really thinks it will? a physical fight just won't help you win when you just reinforce what groups like hizbollah preach.

think about this: what are the young boys who survived the actions of the israeli military over the last 2 weeks, living in war torn southern lebanon, going to be thinking of doing 10, 15 years from now?

gotta get out of this cycle of revenge.

(Tomcat @ Jul. 20 2006,22:09) Also fresh water is the biggest problem to come. In China, India , S America  cheap water pumps are sucking out water faster than nature can put it back.
Water is the most important resource on the planet.  Period.

Demand will shyrocket as China and India become more affluent.  Seems to me water investments have a limited downside and are fundamentaly sound.

There's a water ETF I'll be buying in November (May-Oct of mid-term USA presidential cycles have been abysmal for the US markets and I'm not about to buck such a powerful trend especially when interest rates are relatively high).
