Quick slide off at a tangent -
working in Manila during the 2003 Rugby World Cup we managed to get the games on satelite in our favourite bar. For the final our Ameerican colleagues joined us on the "any excuse for a piss up" rule.
The look on their faces and the ensuing silence when Steve Thompson was interviewed and introduced as the English Hooker was something I will treasure for the rest of my life.

I have to admit I will be cheering on England tomorrow, hey my grandfather was born in Kent. I hate the dirty South African forwards especially guys like Bakkies Botha, I hope Sheridan and the English scrum destroy them (like they did to us).
I'm glad we finally got rid of John Connolly (bit to late) now Ewen Mckenzie can try and fix the mess he has left. He should have got the job 2 years ago.
I'm surprised the whole team wasn't Knighted 4 years ago like the cricket team was after they finally won the Ashes.France panicked and made crucial mistakes in the last 10 minutes... England kick their way to victory! That Wilkinson... has he been Knighted yet?

For a game that didn't mean very much there was a fair bit of agro. Argentina deserved the third place.
