I find it amazing that a Government that controls enough nuclear weapons to destroy every Muslim country on the planet can only describe the verdict as disappointing.

If this was in Bradford then I'd probably have some sympathy for her, but seeing as she went to their country, upset their laws by naming a stuffed toy after their prophet then I have none at all.

She should have known better... I have no sympathy for her at all. When you're in another country you have to respect their laws and religions there. I'd never do anything against Buddha or the Royal Family while in Thailand....
Some Brit on Thai Airways flight got overly drunk and was yelling out insults against the Thai King... he was later arrested when the flight landed in Bangkok...Comment

I must be missing something here because as far as I know Muhammed is a very popular name in the middle east? Why is it all of a sudden offensive to call anyone that? Muhammed Ali must be seriouly shitting himself. I gave up caring about offended muslims ages ago. Fact is they love to play the victim and wallow in their own self pity, if that's the case fine, but don't expect me to care.
Having said that Monkey is right, their laws, their country, let them live in the 15th Century if they want too. Just stay in Sudan and don't come to the west, and no more refugees please. Anyone who goes to these Arab/Muslim countries to sell their services at the prospect of tax free income should expect to suffer the consequences of the harsh regime should they step out of line.

Incredibly stupid of her. Even I would have sidestepped calling a toy Mohammed. I have a feeling that she was more of a threat to the kids education than this single incident.Comment

A boy in the class named Mohammed suggested the teddy bear be named after him.
A parent of another child in the class misinterpreted this, and assumed bad intentions on the part of the teacher, prompting the legal complaint.
She is not getting whipped, but she is going to jail for 15 days. Really a slap on the wrist that is probably being carried out to prevent the government from losing face after bringing what amount to essentially bogus charges.
I do feel sorry for her, and shame on everyone who said serves her right.Comment
