Let me assure you that it is harder to come home alone than with company. It is really desperate times for many girls here. As Juri said to me, so many are on the verge of a nervous breakdown.

I had one of the most popular girls tell me last night that she is worried sick about repaying a loan she took out. I couldn't understand, she didn't owe any money last week, she seemed perfectly relaxed. Plus she gets barfined regularly.

It turns out she borrowed money to give to her family. "From the mafia?" I asked.

Thanks RX. Very kind of you to mention it. And 10K? I suppose that's OK in a private room protected by a Paywall.

And let me mention that I feel much safer posting in the VIP section. I would not want to be letting the girls see what is posted or written about them. It is another area of opportunity where they will try to exploit you for money if they can.

Very relevant quotation, the truth of which was brought home to me on two occasions earlier this week.  The first was when Om and I went for lunch at Hongsa Kitchen (2nd Road).  My bottle of Chang was flat.  Om wouldn't let me complain.  Second, we went for dinner and left the Thai quotation book, my notes and my PwC pen behind (for more info see my thread when I get around to updating it).  We got back the book and notes the following day, but the pen had walked.  We went for dinner to the same place two nights later, and the waiter was using my pen!!!!!     Om would not let me ask for it back.  Oh to be back in the UK at last, where complaining is a national past-time.

BTW, Pacman, you're right, the beer at Tee Ruk bar is warm.  But do you think I was allowed to complain...?

   I would complain. Stuff it, they want to be paid for a drink that is undrinkable. And it isn't just there that will serve warm beer. I have a list of places a mile long. It is due to either refrigeration that needs servicing but won't be because they see maintenance as a waste of money or they load their fridges from the front & take them out the same way.

Only when we speak up will they get the message. In the meantime order your beer "yen yen". The smart ones will hand you the bottle to check. And many don't get the concept of reaching into the cabinet & finding a cold one themselves. We are still inpenetrable to them.

As for Om's reluctance to act, don't forget that she has grown up with prejudice all her life. It just isn't in her mindset that she has any rights at all let alone the ability to challenge someone of a higher social set. And unfortunately Richard, for a katoey, that is most of her countrymen.

I mean no disrespect to her or any katoey by that remark but it does take time & money to elevate them to a level where they can feel equal. The good news is that there have been many before her who have risen up to being held in high regard. But mainly due to money, they still aren't allowed in some places in 'polite society'.

It is shocking to us that these lovely girls can be so discriminated. TIT.

Looking around at bar life, it seems to me that there are two common ways to approach the complaint:

1. The drunk Englishman approach - shout out at the waiter "Oy! Tit face - this fuckin' beer is warm. Give me a cold one now" and watch the look of unalloyed joy as he rushed to forfill your every dream. And remember it later on when he and his friends work you over for violating every tenet of Thai society or

2. The survivalist approach that I take (I do like my beer cold when in hot climes) - call the waiter over and, as I hold my hand on the offending bottle, ask "Could I have a cold one. This is too warm for me" whilst smiling continuously.....Before they open the next one, I check the coolness and will ask for something colder if necessary. But continue smiling at all costs!

   Abso-bloody-lutely!! Number 2 all the way! I am polite to the point of being obsequious. Why not? I have nothing to lose but my teeth & my eyesight.

But most of the time they will only offer you a glass of ice to pour your beer into. The managers are so short sighted that they would rather not waste a beer & risk you never returning to their bar. I guess it is more than their job is worth. Beer is expensive, staff aren't.

Unless of course you are a farang boss in which case staff can sue for loss of wages if they are dismissed. Thai bosses don't need to worry.

Many people here in Pattaya I have met lately have fallen victim to a fever that wiped them out for a few days. I didn't get a full blown fever but I have been feeling a bit sub-par the past week & I am now rejoicing in the news that my cough has come back. It isn't as bad as before but annoying nevertheless. So I have been very quiet socially this week restricting myself to two beers most nights. I thought a little rest would do me good.

To celebrate my savings & to welcome the new LBs into Obsessions (don't know about them? Check my latest posts on the PATTAYA OBSESSIONS thread), I invited them all to join me at my table. I soon had others hovering in the hope of a drink. I understand them trying as many times a customer will buy drinks for all those asking. Most guys don't want to be forced to choose who gets one & who misses out. But my criteria was clear - "for NEW lady". Of course what I didn't anticipate was the arrival of another two since I photographed the first five yesterday.

But no biggie, 7 drinks were ordered, a San Mig for me (still the only beer that doesn't give me a headache) & a very funny hour was spent while the girls giggled & carried on. I ordered up another round to keep the craic flowing. Margaritas of course, I know there is a 99 baht non-alcoholic option but I didn't stipulate as their choice was only 135 baht. It was interesting to watch the different levels of sophistication on display as most of these girls are fresh off the bus from Issan & have very little English.

I was amused at how shy some were & how bolshie others. And when one of the bolder ones reached into my crutch to discover a level of tumescence, there was a scream at the table that soon had every hand present delving into my crutch for a good old squeeze. This is a tradition not just in Pattaya but in every Thai bar I have been in. These days I find it funny. What's even funnier is when a farang decides he doesn't want his privates interfered with & spends all his time fending off prying hands. Some guys lose their trousers trying to protect their virtue but it has been many years since I last witnessed that.

Anyway, once the screaming died down & they all finished chatting about their first (?) grab of farang cock, they settled down to doing what Thais do so well, indulging in sanuk. Someone would say something, everyone would laugh, then a waitress would translate to me, then I would ask something, the waitress repeated it, something else was said & all the time the girls were dying in howls of laughter. I guess you had to be there but that much fun with so many pretty girls back in the west is 1) prohibitively expensive & 2) impossible to organise even if you could afford it. And when did a bunch of young girls back home last give a damn about you & what you thought? Maybe never. And some think that buying a round of lady drinks here is expensive.

I was asked to choose a girl & as Natty was snuggled in next to me, the decision wasn't hard. There was no animosity from the others, maybe they thought they had dodged a bullet by missing out...      

Natty was lovely. Slim & cuddly, I did what I could before letting her go back to the bar. She happily posed for some photos & I told her that she was going to get a lot of business from them. I am not sure what she understood but she was a trooper & I do hope she can stay the course.

I needed to get outside so I walked up to PattayaKlang (Central Pattaya Road) to say hi to a girl I met the night before on WS when she was heading to Marine Disco with her friends. I wasn't keen to go dancing but I promised to call past her bar. I arrived to her great surprise, declined her offer of a drink & continued on to Didi's. Another surprise, there was a large crowd there celebrating Cream's birthday & who was waving me over but Ericeric who immediately offered me a drink. I told him it was rare that a crowd like this knows about a party without an announcement on the internet. But they are all old mates, many of them married with Thai wives, a bunch of English chaps who work out at the same gym. They were complaining about the exchange rate for Sterling to Baht, it is a huge disincentive for UK visitors to LOS.

And there was the same spread of food laid out as before so that was dinner taken care of. The roast pig was particularly good...  

I checked bin around midnight & walked back to the Penthouse along the Coconut Bar. There were 100's of girls lining the street & here & there, groups of ladyboys, all doing their best to seduce me with their charms. I saw Tee patiently waiting & again she asked me if I had spoken to Chinaman. Again I told her no & she said she had written him an email. I told her he was very busy working in China but if you are reading this CM, please drop her a line. I suppose she wants money, what else do they write about? I thought about going inside Obsessions for another girl but I was beat & decided an early night was in order.

Staying at the Penthouse is a new VIP member here on TLF, Crackerjax, an old hand from LB69. He also lives in China but is a very happy & depraved American who knows the scene well. I loved his story about the 2 Mays at Stringfellows, a double act he always barfines when he is in town. I warmed to him as soon as I heard his deep laugh, a very evil sound that emanates from his boots. Welcome aboard CJ, I hope to see you contributing soon. And another American I met two nights ago is xyzzy, another nice guy. He hasn't switched from LB69 but he may do. I am sure there must be some curiosity about what goes on behind the closed doors of TLF.

I asked him if he was Polish given his username. He patiently explained to me that xyzzy is a 'term' used in computer games, or was, back in the old days. "I knew that" I replied while all the time thinking: "Games on computers! Blimey, what'll they think of next?"

Having met two Americans on one night, I must say they are few & far between. If the winners of the GFC are decided by how many of a respective countries citizens are represented in Pattaya, then China & India win hands down. There are 1000's of them. The Chinese aren't as so noticeable but the big buses full of them roll into Pattaya every day. I know a lot of them are out in Jomtien & even Rayon. Occasionally I see a large group being marched to their next 'fun' activity but the Indians, blimey, I have never seen so many & they have completely taken over the street scene. They still don't populate the bars so much, in fact, they are still barred from most but that will change.

We have little to worry about though because like their Arab counterparts, they go for the girls we reject. The big ones. I saw two ME chaps last night walking along Beach Rd with a couple of fatties, one of whom was so grotesque that I wondered where on earth he found her. I normally never criticize some one's choice of partner, we all get to make up our own minds, but unless he was competing in a contest to see who could bag the worst girl in Thailand, I simply cannot comprehend what he was thinking. I wondered what the sex would be like but if I think about it I will lose my lunch. And what made it more curious to me was that these guys both had muscle shirts on designed to show off their big arms. If they take pride in their appearance, then why choose a girl who you can't tell where her knees start & her arse ends? He must really have sought her out, I have never seen a bigger girl in this town. Or an uglier one. Most curious.
