I remember that. Never can go wrong with a beer at Big Dog's even though they don't let you eat BBQ anymore.
We went to shortly visit Crazy D at his hotel.
Then we hit Check In Bar for a primer on our way to Why Not Bar for the Volleyball party.
That is where I picked up my date for the evening.

I'm still not clear how you ended up wearing my lobster shorts.

Was homesick for Phanæng kị̀ so i made it myself today . Not as good as the Hideaway but close. More spice next batch. I don't keep rice at home but i had some asian noodles.

I don't remember the peas but I did like how the Suk 11 Hostel put a swirl of cream or coconut milk in the Panaeng Gai.

Usually I didn't like to cook rice but these little instant cups are great.

I used a red curry paste that's got allot of the ingredients in it. I also added one dried crushed chilli pepper. But its not really creamy more soup like. Next attempt ill get all the bare ingredients and do it with more control of mix. I have been trying allot of receipes lately. I think next trip ill take a thai cooking class along the way somewhere. Is that pic from the tastey Suk 11 hostel? That was the coolest place i have ever eaten at. The rooftop restraunts are cool but Suk 11 had a very special ambiance and it makes me sad when i think its gone. I remember mentioning it to or server at the time, that they were closing and i recall how upset he became. He said " Oh, not talk about very sad" ...that was back in '16. You know, all the trips are so memorable.

Yes that is the Suk 11 Hostel. I think that is my greatest discovery in Thailand.
A little piece of what old Bangkok used to be, now replaced with condos.

There was a Thai Cooking School just a short walk down the beach from our bunglow on Koh Chang. Looks like it is now called Blue Lagoon Thai Cooking school.

The rickety bridge is only if you take the beach route. It could be considered a wooden causeway.
The route on the google map above only shows walking by road.

If you stay at the nearby Lin's Bungalows by the beach it is even closer.

You can rent motorbikes but I wouldn't reccomend it. Which ever beach you stay at, it is very easy to walk around the area on foot. When travelling between beaches it is better to take the baht buses or Songthaews as they call them. They cost 100-300 baht between beaches depending on the distance.
It is much safer to ride the trucks than motor bikes partly because there is some very steep roads with hairpin turns. Not easy on a motorbike, especially with a passenger.
Of course the Songthaews are good as you can continue to drink your beer or spark up a fatty.

The only place that I have tried drive a motorbike in Thailand is Koh Chang and it ended in tragedy. I hit a patch of sand and wiped out, the girl on the back was able to jump off uninjured while my long legs were taking the brunt of the fall. Strangely enough we crashed right in front of a medical center, however the girl took me to a bar for first aid. I had a stiff drink while they patched me up with the first aid kit.
Last time I drive a motorbike in Thailand.
It was also a good thing it was the girls bike rather than a rental.

                        Volleyball update December 25, 2020

Apologies for needing to cancel LBWVB 2020, scheduled for November, but we live in an unprecedented period of social uncertainty.

Thank you for all your support, especially your contribution, to a truly unique and fun event.

Not only businesses but Charities have been hard hit with no visitors to the various orphanages.

March 2021 was our initial rescheduled date but that is now improbable.
                        April - Songkran
                        May/June - Low season
July - Dry days for Buddha
August through October - Rain season
Therefore, a Saturday in November 2021 is the next most viable date.

We cannot commence planning and selling tickets until:
Worldwide travel situation is clear allowing more freedom of movement.
Areca Lodge, our hosting hotel is back to normal operations.
Teams provided by bars are still in place.
Restaurants and other venues continued support for the Auction/Raffle
Referees, Photographers, DJ, Ticket Stewards are all still available.
Restrictions on Social distancing and gatherings are eased.

With the current unclear global situation, the best that I can offer:
                        1) Donations are still given to Charity in 2021 whether or not we are able to stage again.
                        2) Defer towards a 2021 Sponsorship/Ticket assuming 2021 goes ahead.
                        3) Refund money contributed

Let me know what you would prefer to do with your charitable contribution?

Finally, Season's Greetings and hoping for a better world in 2021.
                        Tony

Usually I get a 12 hour business class flight from Canada to Hong Kong, then it is only 2 hours from there. Tapei could be a similar stop and hopefully Air Canada will get more flights there. We can only hope China does not invade Taiwan.

Japan and Korea are ok but much longer flights to BKK. I was thinking of moving to Calgary where there is a direct flight to Japan but then it is still 7 hours to Bangkok.
It is really hard to get business class on the legs to Bangkok on those partner airlines. Eva has flights all the way to BKK from Canada so that could be good.

I have never flown on Eva Air but I have used their lounge because Asiana does not have a lounge at BKK.
This was part of one of my worst flights ever. I booked a return business class flight on Air Canada and the I was coming back through Korea.
The flight left BKK at 11:30pm and was very cheap compared to other business class itineraries. I wasn't supposed to get business class on the leg to Seoul/Incheon but Asiana upgraded me to the worst business class seat I have ever had. When i got to Korea at 6am I could not check my bags through and go to the lounge to wait for my flight to Canada. I had to exit to the main terminal with my luggage. Check in for my Air Canada flight was not until 6:30pm so I had to sit in the terminal with all my luggage for about 12 hours. I was eligible to go to the Asiana lounge but I could not access the concourse. Now i knew why it was so cheap.

Since my flight was very late flamingofarmer and I went and got drunk at Check In Bar before my departure. Not doing that again. By the time I got into the Eva Air lounge in Bangkok, I was quite drunk. As I sat there I started to feel more hungover and the Eva lounge decor made me dizzy. It looked like I was waiting for a Stargate transfer. Then on to the worst Business class seat ever on Asiana Airlines.
Wow, that lounge looks horrendous. I want to chill and relax, not feel like I'm in a night club. The first class lounges with Cathay Pacific look very much to my liking. (Cabanas, Day Suites, Massages...now that's the way to fly!)

But who knows what air travel will look like when it returns? It sounds to me like first class or business class will be greatly lacking compared to pre-covid.

Per Streetwalker (event organizer) LBWVB update on 4/2/2021

No revised date has been set yet as there is still too much uncertainty about:

                                Entry requirements into Thailand
Vaccinations both here in Thailand and visiting nationals from other countries.
                                Hotels back to normal opening.

There are signs of easing restrictions but we really need for tourism to be open to all before deciding on a date.

November is still a possibility if International Travel is openly available.

We can review again in late May this year.

If November is not possible then the next feasible date would be March 2022
