Koh Samui, Koh Phangan & Chiang Mai.

Hey Guys.

Im off to the land in a few months. This time im off for a month.

I will be doing the usual Bangkok, Pattaya, Phuket but i thought id go look for some fresh meat in Koh Samui, Koh Phangan and Chiang Mai.

Ill be in each of the above for 3 nights each.

Does anybody know of any good cheap hotels or bungalows.

In Koh Samui preferably on Chaweng Beach as i hear this is where all the action is.

beef....I was on Samui for 12 days with Aon [relationship-breaker for sure] and we also went over to PhanGan for the full-moon party. I hate to sound so vague, but your best bet of finding cheap places to stay on those 2 islands is to just pick up the latest version of 'Thailand's Island and Beaches'; i have a copy and it is invaluable. otherwise you will just be searching the internet for hours looking for a place to stay and driving yourslef crazy, and also the cheap places don't advertise on the net, but Lonely Planet has them all listed.

for CM, I have stayed there twice and at the Oriental Mae Ping both times. Nice place; 1800B for a regular room and 3200 for the suites. very guest-friendly just by the fact that there are so many people coming in and out of the lobby that they have no idea who is going to what room. there is no way I can comment on any other places because that is the only place I have ever stayed at, sorry. But i am sure there are guesthouses and other cheap lodging places available up there.

that's all I can tell you; sorry not more helpful, but finding a place to stay in all 3 of these places will be no problems at all. Unless of course you will be in PhanGan around the full-moon party, in which case they are all booked up over there.

full moon party was decent but not something I would ever plan on going back to; it was certainly more than 'just another beach party'. about 3000-4000 people on a beach with 5 or 6 different types of music and lots of alcohol and drug consumption.

again, decent party but PhanGan is a hassle to get to and I wouldn't go there again. good idea getting that lonely planet book; I have it and use it all the time. I also just got one for the philippines; those books are still very relevant even in this day of the inernet.

Bit Beefy, Chiangmai hotels that I have stayed in....

Middle of the road are the "Imperial Mae Ping" on Kampangdin Road Bt 1500/night double close to most of the action. All of the regular trimmings with a large pool.

"Chiang Inn" hotel right in the middle of the Night Bazaar is in a good position slightly less, but busy.

"Porn Ping" on Chalernprathet near the river is also cool, but always well booked Bt 1600 .Bonus is that it has a disco underneath it, which is a grat LB hangout.

Just round the corner the "Royal Princess" small pool, around Bt 1500 Tends to be full of "couples" and "oldies"

The "Empress" further down "Changklan" Road Everything you need, including a gym and sauna, and a great pool. Runs out at Bt 1800 a night. Usually full of young tourists.

If you're looking for budget, but with all the trappings" you can't go past the Thapae Inn" soi three Thapae Road. Great value at Bt 600 including breakfast. Stayed there many times.

wow, nice job on the Chiang Mai listings, cynic.....maybe we will have to copy some of your post and send it to the tourism page? it seems like you know CM pretty well. I have been there 2 times [both at the Mae Ping] but hardly left my room due to too much work. seems like a nice city; some day i will have to go there on just a 'vacation', no work.

thanks for the thorough help with CM; you will like the update we do on february 1 from there; all 5 girls are locals and very cute, and brand new to the website.

I was just looking at the same list, Thapae Inn has no link. Why is it they hide themselves away. Well i know why, charging 600Baht a Nite its pretty hard to set up a web site.

What can i expect?? For the 600Baht i mean? In phuket i found 1 for 500Baht a night with double bed, A/C, Fridge/Freezer, TV with Cabal and shower. Very Clean Nice staff. But they 2 are not on the net, can i expect something similar?? Way i see it is luxurys nice but how much time am i spending in this hotel room?

you will like those 5 also, beefy.......pretty sure you will be asking me for the number of bam when you see her....by the way, walking around the Thapea gate is pretty iffy; i strolled around there 2 seperate nights and didn't see much, and the ones that WERE out were very young, like 15 or 16.

although the first night I was there i did see Yoh, the girl on the cover, lower right with the huge log; she was walking Thapea gate looking for a customer. to her dismay, she ended up with me LOL. we went back to my room at 1AM and I reamed her pretty hard while watching XXX shemale movies on my laptop. she is a good one and i was lucky to see her there; at 19 she is a bit old for that crowd hahahaha

In chiang mai they do an off road motorbike course. you can either train for 3 days or if u have previous trial bike experience they take u off into the moutains for a few days. Its £175 for the 3days thats inclusive of Hotels and equipment as far as i know. Obviously more if ure going for longer. ww.hctravel.com im a bike freak so theyl be getting my money...

Thapae Inn is just off the main road, and you can walk to just about anywhere. All the rooms are very clean and have great city views. Double beds, All air con, CableTV, HBO/Cinemax etc. Fridge, Good bathrooms with shower and hot and cold.
They even have a shuttle bus which will meet you at the airport. As good as any middle of the road hotel I've stayed in
