(Bam @ Jun. 02 2007,23:38) The girls in Thailand all send me money every month... so I must be doing something right. I just tell them I no longer want to work in bar and want to go to school... and my father needs medicine for his bad hart and mother needs money for life saving operation and they just all send me money... it's great!

Yep, it's hard out there for a pimp, but at least you're going to school, using the money to pay for medical bills, taking care of the oldsters. Good karma.

And when you die, on your deathbed, you will receive total consciousness. So you got that goin' for ya...which is nice.

it's a neverending story. it will never be enough and even if you sold your soul they would probably still be on the game. but of course everyone appriciate a gift now and then. i dont know how many times this have been stressed on this board, but if you really make an effort, try your chances outside the bar scene

Obviously you have no idea what I really meant with what I said€¦  I guess you just have to live and learn.

If you really want to help a girl in the Philippines then do it correctly and sponsor a child there through Christian Children€™s Fund.

I send money to the Philippines every month to help 2 little girls and their families through my sponsorship with Christian Children€™s Fund.

Sending money, I plan to send a small amount to a "friend" I met on my last vacation. I'm encouraging her to use the money for English language lessons (however, I'm not sure I really expect the money will be used for that). I guess I'm making the attempt to if possible help someone have a better life (or at least the chance of one). If she against the odds takes the language classes then more money will be sent and perhaps I may try help the young lady set up a business. The money may very well be squandered away but I think it is important to do something beyond fuck these girls (I guess its guilt on my part). I have no illusions of love or fidelity, but hope I might be a positive influence in this persons life. To quote President Theodore Roosevelt: "There is not a man of us who does not at times need a helping hand to be stretched out to him, and then shame upon him who will not stretch out the helping hand to his brother."

I guess I living in the U.S., I feel I have been blessed and if I truly needed something I could count on friends or family to provide it. Most of these girls are as poor as church mice (and their families are poorer), and a little something extra given to them would not be amiss. Its a hard life, and no point in making it harder for the girls or myself.

              Just my two cents.

We've been watching this thread as its an interesting topic. We have a GG thai girlfriend who we know works - fucking people is her job! We never send her money and never say anything about the other men who do - its her job![/quote]
Definately agree with the points raised about the differences in Giving/Recieving (big person, small person stuff) in Thailand, and about children (especially girls) looking after parents and not vice versa as in the West.

What we will say as professionals in the field is that if we want to feel good and get value for money, we would never send to international charities. These organisations often spend 80-90% on administration costs. This means (as we are sure you all understand!) is that only 10-20% of all money donated gets to the people you were hoping to help. The rest goes in wages for overwhelmingy western people working in the donor country, or western people being paid outrageous sums to work 'in the field'.

We guess we add this to the thread because during our work and travel we have often met people we wanted to help (much like the sponsor a child gig), but when we do so we send money directly to these people. Straight into their hands to be spent on what they feel they need at the time.

We dont send our 'ggirlfriend' money, but for those who do, as long as its not huge sums, you may actually be getting good value for money, as well as helping someone you know and kinda like...

Just another point in the discussion!!

I want to add that while there are many so-called charitable organizations that are mismanaged and poorly run, there are several great humanitarian groups that manage to get the lion's share, 80%+, of money distributed to people in need of relief. It's really easy for us to point out that there are bad apples in the charitable world as an excuse not to do more, but the fact is that some really great organizations exist and depend on our support. Not an attack at you or anything, but I just want people to realize there are so many ways to help. Money isn't the only answer, taking some of your time out to volunteer, even at a community level, is a good way to give back and feel good about it too!

Definately DP and didnt see it as an attack at all

Couldnt agree more either about alternative ways to help.. We have just returned home after three months working in a developing country for free! In fact it cost us quite a bit personally and economically. Then again - good for heart as they say in LOS.

I still have no idea what you really meant. Girls from Thailand are sending you money for school, medicine for your father's heart, life saving operations, and then you come back with you sponsor 2 kids through Christian Children's Fund. Yes, I'm still confused.

As far as charities go, I never donate, most are just shell corporations for tax breaks. Salaries for corporate officers are high, actual money reaching the intended recipients is quite low. More money is spent on a monthly rental of a copy machine than ever reaches those the that charity is claiming to help. Charities are non-profit, which means they can not make more than 2% profit in a fiscal year. Administrative salaries, office rent, supplies and equipment take the money with very little trickling down.

Your benevolence is not to be criticized as generousity and sense of community is to be commended.

ohnorice again, Bam was joking with you - the girls in Thailand are not sending him money every month. He was trying to make a point how sponsoring a bargirl (either gg or lb) is not the smartest thing in the world to do.

To make a real difference in someone's life, sponsor someone who really will have their lives changed for the better (as per the Christian's Children Fund), sending money directly as perthcouple have stated or spending your time to help others as DP has suggested.

hahaha So, I did get it right the first time. I'm not as dumb as I thought! Sometimes I get it, sometimes I think I get it when I don't, sometimes I just don't get it.

So Bam, you have the total consciousness on your deathbed thingy still working for you, which is nice.

I'm not about to fall into the trap of regular payments as I have learned far too much on this forum. I'm willing to feed the hungry, clothe the naked but I'm not paying for a cell phone, wardrobe (as I prefer naked people), and I do know that they will survive because they did before they ever met me.

I'll just cry poor, and quote the Beatles: "love is all you need". I'm so righteous I'm going to get that total consciousnes on my deathbed too, so I have that going for me, which is nice.

Now, as far as actually helping, sure, live and in person is the best way to go but you are still dependent on funding. perthcouple is doing what many of us want to do but can't, due to reponsiblities at home or lack of balls. Here in the US, doctors become doctors for the money and people are turned away for lack of. In Third World nations, doctors become doctors to help but lack of medicines are a hindrance, so people are still turned away. Do I have a point? Not sure, just that I'm all for making my little corner of the world better for others that are connected to my corner of the world.

There is obviously something to the simple essence of mankind that yells at us to help rescue people from a fire but there is also something to mankind's innate greed.
