Degradation of the Forum

(ziggystardust @ May 13 2007,20:57) I have to say that recently it seems this forum has degraded signficantly. There is no thread without rabid personal assaults. There are few threads without racial, religious, and sexual preference hatred spewed.

It was at one time a fun LB forum, with a little psycho-analysis that is quite educational and entertaining. I used to read this because of the great jokes. It now seems to be tending towards a white supremacy forum.

When the webmaster is the leader of some of that, it is of even greater concern, as that only goads people on to continue.

It's at a point where I've heard many people say they don't want to initiate threads anymore, and many also saying they don't want to read it anymore because of this tendency. Certainly, I'm leaning that way, as any attempt at something fun rapidly goes back to some form of taunt and hatred comments.

So what do y'all think?

Personally, the only real factor I see is my absence from the board. During my time away it appears you guys have degenerated into hate-mongering (instead of whore-mongering) bloody fools. Have no fear though my friend, I'm back - and better than ever!

The First Crusade thread (which Ziggy started) has a paltry pathetic 400 page views...

Perhaps we can spice up the Crusades dialogs

I don't think that the forum has changed significantly! People come back for the porn, pics and information - not the odd contentious thread about our crazy world we live in...

Here on the forum are writing expats, experts, frequent travelers as guys are never been in LOS...
Interesting threads, many information for everybody...
I don't know a other Forum where you find so much information about ladyboys, travel information, field reports, all guys have a sense of humor, great ranges of political meanings....

The people who might be hostile to a forum such as this on moral grounds won't usually post here anyway. In fact it's unlikely they'd even find us.

If people are posting here and think that the forum is getting worse it probably means that they are not being given the 'respect' they think they deserve or the tide of opinion is now more against them than it was in the past...

The only way this forum has changed is that it's now busier than before. We've ALWAYS had our share of outragious and controversial posts and posters. There are those that know what buttons to push when they write their posts and there are always some posters that can be relied on to jump on any bait thrown out there...

For most of us it's a fun read and keeps us in touch with our lifestyle in a thought provoking and intelligent way.

We have the best moderators that a message board could ask for. We have tools available to all readers to enable them to skip the posters and subjects that they don't feel comfortable reading.

If you are logged in here and don't like being here then I only have the most obvious solution at hand to give you...

While name calling and violent diagreement have always been here and always will, and always should, what is perhaps new since I've been a member, is the aggressive personal aspect of it now, and racial hatred. Annoyingly, the latter is hypocritical at that, as I can recall welcoming, gentle advice to some of our non-white members, and all smiles at the bar when members meet.

It is comical to see some point to the initiator of this thread as the problem. That is an interesting way to divert the problem to someone else. This is not a personal issue. There are a lot of personal disgusting attacks recently, and racial, religious, and sexuality, hatred comments. There is no personal opinion involved in saying that. It is just stating a fact.

The purpose of this thread was to simply see if other people agreed on the stated view that it is a bit too much recently. Nothing more, nothing less.

However, self-congratulatory success metrics prove the current approach is the way to go, so no need to push this point any more.

Shit, I guess I'm not so bad after all.  I may call all of you a bunch of puffers but you never hear pesonal attacks from me nor any racial or religious hatred.   I dont think I have posted on the fish box before..sounds like that is where the hatred is coming from.
