Degradation of the Forum

The Forum is an evolving entity with the attitudes and tones changing as new members join and participate and old ones either leave or continue in the debates.

Yes, the tone and attitude of the forum lately has not been the same as before. I am not an old timer, but have been around long enough to see things change. Having read a couple of other forums, this one is certainly less problematic than most. We have confrontational members come and go, some sarcastic characters come and stay, and some sarcastic characters contribute more.

The key thing is to try and not take things personally as the anonymity of the keyboard makes it too easy to slag off with viewpoints we don't agree with. Disagreement is healthy, I've had debates with Buttafly and Grunyen about postops, but in the end we agreed to disagree without animosity.

Although I disagree with the more extreme racial stuff,  rxpharm has summed it all up for me!  

And I tend to 'switch off' anyway when the name-calling starts on a thread.   And go look at threads like gunslingers on Isaan - now that is where the forum excels !   TTC likes to concentrate on the LBs, not in strutting my international prejudices (of which I have plenty)...

Well, here's my 'mission statement' and this hasn't changed from day one...

First a couple of comments... The message board was something that never even took off at all. The boss of the site liked the old style 'bulletin board' style forum much better and for a couple of years he was always threatening to close this place down.

It took a lot of grovelling to keep this place alive and even now I don't think the site owners really like everything about this place!

It was and still is my ambition to create a varied and interesting forum for intelligent and thoughtful ladyboy lovers.

I didn't want a forum full of one liners and idiotic kids playing 'last word' tag. the humor and style is obviously adult in nature but also seasoned and mature in content also. This isn't a message board where we are simply glad to see you whoever you are. This isn't a place where you can just join up and say anything stupid that comes into your head.

We play heavy favourites on this forum. If you are new here then you won't find much leeway with your posts. If you have been here a while then you can get away with pretty much anything.

There are 11 forums on this message board and only ONE that has nothing to do with ladyboys. If you want to avoid 'non ladyboy' talk then avoid The Fish Box because it stinks in there!!!

For those of you who DO likke contentious issues then dive right in and post away. There we tolerate discussions on most topics and so far I haven't seen anything to suggest to me that anything here is getting out of hand.

A few people let off steam and move on. (I use this area to take a stab at various things and I feel better afterwards about it.)

Some of the other forums raise some volatile and contentious issues... The 'gayness' factor is one of them. Here again I haven't really seen anything that has gotten beyond control or out of order yet. Some people post outragous comments and get slated for it and after a week or so it's all forgotten without any intervention from moderators.

Occasionally we get some arse on here who is quickly weeded out by one of the moderators and quietly silenced. It's happened twice since the beginning of the forum's lifetime.

As is usual by people who complain; they rarely have a 'solution' to their grievences so we are simply stuck with their view of what we are doing wrong and nothing is written about what we could be done to put things right!

We are NOT CBS or the BBC... topics discussed are facts of life... We aren't in the business of pretending that there is no racism or anti Muslim sentiments or sexism...

Did six million Jews die in the second world war? I very much doubt it but it's against the law in some oplaces to suggest that these figures maybe crap... Should Robert Mugabe be running a country? I don't think he should but the UK government continually sucks his dick... Should religeon be taught to minors? Of course it shouldn't but there are people who think that it's actually a part of their children's 'education.'

Should we stay quiet about all these things and just talk about how great Annie from Obsessions is in 'the rack'?

Fuck know... Here we can have creative debates on anything... If you don't want to read them then don't.

We aren't gonna change this forum one bit and if people sign up and don't like it then we won't miss them when they've gone. This forum isn't for everyone, and if this includes you then there are places out there that will welcome you with open arms.

If this was an expensive restaurant and you had a gripe about the food or the service then I'd listen and do whatever it took to make you happy...

This is a free message board run by volunteers... You're welcome to your opinions about how good or bad it is or how much better it was in 'the old days' but it's not gonna change anything...

To me, complaining about this message board is like walking through thegrocery store and loudly complaining that you don't like one brand of marmalade they carry.

I've had good, bad, up, down, and all around experiences here. I've had some real blowouts with people, I've explored some ideas I'm not sure about, and I've pontificated on assorted topics that I think I know something about.

I've even considered this forum a good place to ask completely irrelevant questions when I just need some input or the chance to ask a bunch of guys about something.

It is easy to hit NEXT, or go away for a week if you don't like it. I go through phases of activity and involvement, and I'm a medium-timer I guess. I've seen the flow of things change and cycle around. It's theway of the world.

My best suggestion is what Gandhi said "Be the change you want to see in the world". If you don't like the tenor of the posts, be the leader in steering the discussions or offering your thoughts to others. But you can't get irrate just cause everyone doesn't go along. Think about just your successes for a minute, sometimes they are easy to forget, but if you count up all the things that have worked out for the positive, it's often more than you realize.

Just the fact that such a forum exists in this electronic pretend universe, where we can practice freely speaking about what we believe, anonymously, without fear of any reprisal other than words... that's a success story in my book. (Imagine that for centuries, most people never had that luxury)

I've 'cherry picked' two of Stogies statements but there ain't any of them I disagree with.

I told Stogie a long time ago if there was anything he said I did disagree with I would tell him.

Despite what people actually post from behind the anonymity of a computer screen, we are all members of the same club, we like ladyboys, thailand and probably most of asia. This makes us a pretty unique group.

Yes there are some vitriolic posts, but usually they die down and go away after a while. If they dont then they are forced to go (costass).

On the whole all the guys i've met because of this forum are really normal, well adjusted guys and it is a pleasure to spend time with them either here in the UK or on holiday in Thailand. We all have good and bad points, but on the whole this forum is a great way to catch up on news and the girls when we are away.

Isn't it a fact though that everything was better in the "good old days". If it were, we wouldnt have any progress at all.

Well, ok, you asked for it. You wanted a suggestion. My suggestion is the webmaster shows leadership in basic human decency and doesn't post racial hatred comments. I think that's a pretty good suggestion.

Also, you constantly suggest people leave who don't like it. Repeatedly. It certainly sounds to me like you don't like people who disagree with you, which of course is hypocritical. So the rule is, you can post anything you want, we aren't going to change, but just don't post something against the forum, else we prefer you to leave?
