Degradation of the Forum

I have to say that recently it seems this forum has degraded signficantly. There is no thread without rabid personal assaults. There are few threads without racial, religious, and sexual preference hatred spewed.

It was at one time a fun LB forum, with a little psycho-analysis that is quite educational and entertaining. I used to read this because of the great jokes. It now seems to be tending towards a white supremacy forum.

When the webmaster is the leader of some of that, it is of even greater concern, as that only goads people on to continue.

It's at a point where I've heard many people say they don't want to initiate threads anymore, and many also saying they don't want to read it anymore because of this tendency. Certainly, I'm leaning that way, as any attempt at something fun rapidly goes back to some form of taunt and hatred comments.

So what do y'all think?

My personal view is that some comments that are obviously a little tongue in cheek are seen as the Gospel, and thus initiates a ranting of views as you have stated; a couple of examples spring to mind but especially the Mint thread a while back.

I think we all need to chill a bit and enjoy the "hobby" we all share.

I agree Katoylover. Most posts are good in nature considering this is a "very adult" forum. Only a recent spate of crap from the white horse character to detract. The moddies sorted that out pretty quickly. Right now there is a very lively debate going on about the Crusades and Islam with muliple points of view being expressed on a very volitile subject - all without animosity. More of a sign of the good health of the forum I think.

Personally I don't believe it has degraded signficantly...but there have been several recent threads that are apparently emotional to some...and emotion is fine, it's when it is taken to a personal level...the costassg syndrome...that it becomes unappealing...and I am as guilty as anyone here...But I do have teeth marks all over my tongue...

On the other had, it could become as sanitized as some other forums and we could all just snooze through it once a month or so...

I gotta agree with KL...we just need to remind ourselves on occasion why we are all here and enjoy...

I think this is a bit hysterical myself. Please identify one comment that reeks specifically of "white supremacy." I challenge you to find anything (pro-BNP sympathies are not necessarily white supremacist).

I think that what brings us together is stronger than what drives us apart. Much of what is written is indeed satire and tongue in cheek. I think it livens the place up. If we were to share a beer, I think perhaps the discussions would seem much more personable than an electronic forum can allow, but not any less irreverant. Oh there might be the odd man out who throws his hands on his hips and protests anything remotely offensive, but I suspect most people here are a bit more down to earth.

I think this comes and goes in cycles, sometimes we have a bunch of guys who get too personal, costassg is a good example and before him we had bricktop, et al.

We have some good discussions going on and when it doesn't degenerate to personal attacks there is a lot of good thought in some posts.

My thinking is not to take anything too seriously here - although there are some good things written at times. Some guys are letting off steam, some guys are putting up a front - I cannot always know.

I have met some Forum members and can say so far they are all good guys, great company and full of knowledge.

The one thing we have in common, is we all love lbs, whether they be postops, preops, femboys, amazons, etc.

So thanks to everyone for the contributions, even if I don't always agree - after all variety is the spice of life - as long as we don't degenerate to personal attacks!

I think you read too much. I'm very selective in what I read here, and the last time I felt that things were amok was when Bricktop was crapping all over the place.

These threads that are mentioned are unfamiliar to me. That means you have to read those threads in order to find the objectionable content. Somehow I've been lucky and haven't seen them. So, I'm just going along happy as a clam. Ignorance sometimes is bliss, my friend.


So, you have a problem of biased (and small?) samples. I'm doing okay because my own sampling method leads me to think that this forum is a bunch of interesting guys. Unfortunately, my sampling also indicates that most prefer pre-ops, and seeing that over and over again makes me think that that is the case with the forum in general. However, I'm an optimist - I think that eventually I'll realize that that's not the case, and I'm just unlucky.

Ziggy, I haven't been reading here much over the last 5 weeks since I've been traveling so can't really comment about recent postings.

I think that generally the Forum strikes the right balance between freedom of expression and social order but we all have different ideas of what's the right balance.

I don't post allot of negative shit,; it's not my style. But I have to admit that the controversial threads on many internet forums are the most interesting reads.

I think this board is doing fine. Nothing wrong with different opinions and talk about other things than lb´s.
This board is very polite and calm compared to some i have quit for all the flaming trolls. If we have only loveydovey comments to eachother its get boring.

I am not English and have no affinity towards the BNP. I did not even know about the BNP until Stogie mentioned it! You're own bitterness may affect your perception of me, but I am actually a pretty liberal and easy-going guy. You, well at least you are liberal. Maybe Ziggy can pass you a Molson and loosen you up though!
