I am sitting in Kansai Airport with an hour to go before flight check in begins for my two weeks trip to Pattaya. Arrive at 5AM after the over night flight from Japan, and PBR is supposed to have a car waiting for me, but we shall see :-)

Picked the perfect day to fly out, we had our first snow in my little mountain town this morning, so I am in for a BIG jump in temp.

I will update this thread daily with pics and hoefully links to vids. Bringng my iPhone and my HD Video Cam, so should be fun.

My first mission is to go on a daylight walking tour to get a lay of the land, and will be sure to get lots of pics so new visitors have a decent idea on where to find everthing. So until I wake up as the plane lands in Thailand, hope to see some of you on arrival!

Well I have arrived after the six hour overnight flight from Japan and an hour and a half by car to PBR. Flew Thai Airlines and ended up making a date with a stewardess when we are both back in Japan. She wanted to get together in Bangkok, but since I headed straight to Pattaya we made arrangements to meet back home.

Driver sent by PBR was exactly where he was supposed to be with sign in hand. Not a word of English, but he KNEW the road like the back of his hand. He would slow down or change lanes, and at first I was thinking that he was a bit of a nut, then I realized he was missing every pot hole and making the best of the ups and downs of the highway to Pattaya.

Staff friendly at check in. But to be honest I was half asleep, so who knows, lol.

Took some pics of the room, and will add them now. I am staying in the deluxe room, which is actually bigger than my apartment in Japan, lol. Checked the water pressure, since some reviews said it was an issue, seemed okay. And the air con does blow right on top of the bed, so I have a feeling it could be sweat or freeze.

I cannot remember if you're an experienced monger or new to all this. What sort of HD camera do you use? Last year, I brought an inexpensive Aiptek 1080P HD pocket video camera bought from Amazon just before I left. Twas $400 and I thought it was a steal. That same camera this year? $120!!!!!

With those prices I hope anyone thinking of shooting video will invest the money. I've offered to mail Aiptek's to a couple of the folks on XTube that post videos which feature amazing talent but appear to be shot with pinhole cameras or telephones. Jayzuz! If they're gonna take the time to make a video showing them performing explicit acts of pornography and then post it for all the world to see, spend $120 and have something to REALLY be proud of!  

The digital still camera was another matter. And luckily, I was encouraged/warned by other BM's to upload my pics or otherwise get them off my digital camera memory card before returning home... I uploaded them all to a Rapidshare account and deleted the girly pics. Good thing too - the US Customs and Border Protection brownshirts went through my memory card one photo at a time looking for anything suspect. Don't know if Japan is the same way or not but it's good to be aware.

This the computer desk, kitchen and bed. Pretty decent, but Skype was fading in and out on a video call I just made, so we shall see. Kitchen is nice, full size fridge, microwave and coffee maker. Bed is big and is about to be used for a nap, but will break it in and hopefully have more interesting pics this evening.

And having to resize these images has taught me an important skill on my Mac, which is how the hell to do it, lol. Actually VERY easy, but just didn't know till I had to. I am just resizing them as small images, but if anyone wants a full sized image, PM me your email and the pic you want and I will send it along.

Pretty sure that will not be an issue with my room photos, but might be with some of my guests later on!

Hot water and water pressure have been named as issues with the PBR, both seemed ok to me. Not great, but will get your sweaty ass clean. The balcony is a decent size, and should be fun to play on. I also included a pic of the in room safe since many have complained of size issues. It seems ok to me. But some Baht notes in front as a reference point.

Deepthroat, I will be using my iPhone as my main still cam, it takes decent enough pics and is easy to carry since I am used to it anyway.

For my Digital Video Cam, I bought the Sanyo Xacti CA9. That is the Japanese model number, world wide it is something else, but if you do a search, you can see it. It was $250 on Amazon Japan, shoots video in 720P quality at 30 FPS, has a built in 9 Megapixel Still Cam with flash, and uses a SDHC card for memory.

I have used a couple different Xacti models in the past, and they are perfect for web uploads and viewing on HD screens under 30 inches, but tend to lose it a little on bigger screens. But since most of you guys will be viewing this on your laptops, should be perfect.

And speaking of videos, since they are too big to post, what do you guys suggest as the best way to share them?

I always like to use Rapidshare (smaller files) or MegaUploads (larger files). I also like to do torrents but those can be more complicated for folks to figure out, there's definitely a learning curve associated with making and uploading torrents. Once overcome, it's probably the fastest/easiest way to trade video files.

My recommendation would be to post these to a MegaUploads account. Set up a free account (that way they'll store them for a minimum 90 days from their last download) and then after you've uploaded it, you'll get a download link to post to your trip report.

Just returned from a walking tour of Pattaya from PBR to Beach Road to Walking Street and back.

It is mid-afternoon, so not many girls out, but did see a few outside of Linda Bar. Bump into one in the 7-11 across the street while getting some water. Well, it has been an eventful 24 hours. Yesterday afternoon Chuck Wow picked me up and we went out the the Nang Fah so I could check it out. And all I can say is WOW! The place is really beautiful, in a private neighborhood, and the staff were great.

It is a real shame they are having to take a break, and I really hope they start up again soon, I would have loved to stay there. The place has a wonderful feel to it, and is truly beautiful.

While there, I got to meet the staff, who were wonderful. Chuck Wow had to run a few errands and left me to get into trouble with Nan.
