I am with you KL, and also BigMick.... not sure why we need this place as long as we have Big Dogs and Lucky Lukes which are outside and have a better view of the parade? Cheap beer, easy to chat, open air, and you see LB's with 2-3 customers per night walking by and trying to avoid eye contact with you; awesome!

   I went to Guess bar 3 or 4 times in the other location; all I saw was a bunch of bored ladyboys sitting around on couches and I had to yell over loud, crappy music just to get my point across to my friends. Not sure if the new one is the same way and I will never find out as long as Big Dogs stays open.

   From reading other threads on this bar it appears more people go there despite its good and bad points, not because of them.

awesome post and nothing like what you posted after you loved putting up you feet and chiling out. Seems it must have been a mirage or something - maybe lets check the archive for EXACT posts and put them up here !!!!

Oh hang on someone said this would last all of 3 months - yet somehow its still here 24 months later and has made a considerable profit every month and not laid off a single employee - funny how that works without any axe to grind.

I hope that the Guess Bar is still there in November for my newbie trip! I have loved looking at the photographs of the beautiful women at this bar! I would be sooooo bummed if she was forced to close so my suggestion is to continue to enjoy her bar as I understand it is a real classy place without all of the other problems of the bars in Nana Plaza. But that is my two cents worth.

Lots of improvements, too. There is NO OTHER LB BAR in Thailand that has so quickly changed from what it thought we wanted to what we really wanted!

Karl's bar in Pattaya has always been this way and the Guess Bar has become this way...

Someone described the shitpits as 'furtive!' I'd agree with that. Maybe Obsessions and Cascade represent the best and most LBs per square meter but I haven't wanted to find out for many months now.

Possibly the interior of the old bar was better, but not by much. As you say all other aspects of the new bar are significantly better than old place.

Totally agree that there is no other bar in Thailand that is tuned into the quests needs...........I love the place

I loved the 'old' Guess Bar, but I don't think you can compare the two anymore, it's like comparing a baby to a teenager, they grow as we know, in knowledge, opinions, insights etc and I feel the same has happened for the current version of Guess.

I'm grateful to have known both places and I like the current one just as much, but in a different way.

haven't been enough there to miss it. but maybe i should go there more often, since jay begged me
to come earlier next time i came to los. i got all jelly in my knees, still are.

big dogs doesn't have all the action. the last time i was in/outside guess, a fight between 2-3
lbs broke out, nothing serious. from what i could see just fake nails and eyebrows got bruised.
after that i sat down with a yank who was serving in iraq and had bought out  jenny. maybe he
got the taste of being arserammed by dealing with the camel-jockeys(he could certainly exoect some serious pounding by jenny).
we got joined by jay and her socalled gg sister(aren't they all) and a few other lbs. they
tried to explain the cause of the fight but i cannot remember why. probably over some customer(s).

the day before i played by prisonrules in pool. took on the best and biggest (and baldest) guy in there.
an aussie-guy, he seemed familiar. maybe he plays in lb-porn? watched him trash a few lbs and other
punters before give him a 2-0 trashing. remember???

for drinking and talking, guess bar is the best alternative together with the  bars along sukhumvit outside landmark. for lb-hunting i prefer the nana bars/gogos.

To be perfectly honest, if it wasnt for Guess and some very good friends who live in Bangkok, we'd just go back to staying in Pattaya for 2-3 months each year..

I've got no axe to grind with this bar, and I am sure it's a fine place to hang out;  just not for me.  

True, it has lasted longer than expected from this end and as far as I'm concerned it would be cool if it lasted 2 MORE years, or 4 more years, or whatever; it sucks for everyone and is bad for the scene when places close up.  But lets get serious; part of the reason it has been so successful for 2 years now is because it was promoted HEAVILY [even with its own sub-forum!] on the most popular forum on the 'net for ladyboys since before it even opened, which at the time was attached to one of the most popular ladyboy websites as well. Surely that has helped.

    RE the old location; I went in 4 times max, maybe 5; and I was in Thailand a lot that first year of being open.  If I was so enamored with the place I would've gone there much more;  but seeing bored ladyboys on couches eating pad thai and yelling at my friends 2 feet away while thinking ''why is this music so damn loud when no one is in here'' is not a pleasant experience in my mind and reminded me of the Nana places, only smaller.

   But sure, I'm with Stogie and the other lads if they have fun there, stay open Guess Bar!  Especially the fact they have A/C, which *is* a huge advantage to sitting outside in a fan-only beer bar and with the high {muggy} season closing in now.

I survived before Guess was open and I am sure I would survive if it closed. I do however like Guess as a place to drink and have a chat with friends.

I have had some crazy times in that place both the old and the new location so I would be a little sad to see it go. I suppose I would just go back to drinking at Big Dogs and watching the parade and meeting my mates there.

There are a few things I dislike about Guess but there are more things I like about the place and that is why I keep going back.

 That's the most important thing for this bar; if they have happy customers like you coming in, then good for them and they should remain strong and active in the scene for years to come with their steady regulars, as well as some new guys who hear about it from word of mouth or on forums.

Same here, a long and good Christmas season with the extended family, a typically boring New Years as usual {in bed before 11, what a fucking wild man I am these days} and thinking of which warm spot to head off to soon .....time will tell
