We are perceived as being 'rich' because we come here on holiday and spend more than we normally would and pay higher prices than we normally would. In addition we spend and pay more for things than Thais would.

Earning 50K means nothing if your car payment is half of it!

It's about the perception of wealth and I'll bet most of us are in a whole lot more debt than most Thai people we meet!

well spoken mr bear, my fuckin council tax (local area tax)here in GB (Grim Britain) is more per month than the average thai wage per month,most the money i make here is gone before i see it.

add to that myself like a lota guys ive met in LOS work ridiculous hours back home to enable us to travel, the air fare dosnt come through the post as a givaway.

Making money doesn't make you richer, that is true. But it does allow you to spend more!

And if your monthly tax payments on your wages are more than an avg Thai's salary for the year, then any fool could see why he thinks you're rich!
