Stogie & Billy, at around 1000 - 1500 where do you think I can stay in Pattaya that is of course LB friendly & is happy if the customers bring back steady streams of ladyboys
    Pattaya Centre Hotel Reservations

This just my opinion and I haven't stayed at many hotels in Pattaya.

My boss turned me on to this hotel years ago and as a creature of habit I just go back time and time again...

    Here's why...

Location... On Soi 12 it's VERY quiet and an easy walk to almost everywhere... especially 131 and Stringfellows.

Cost... If you book on line a juniour Suite is 1,295 Baht (exactly 50% of the walk in rate) and there is NO joiner fee no matter how many guests you have (although you can only have them one at a time!) The usual joiner fee is 400 Baht.

The junior suites are nice and roomy but they are a bit worn down these days. This is not a bnew hotel although they are upgrading slowly! Also - there is no wireless internet so it's off to the cafes for the email fix! (Actually they do have wireless but it's only available downstairs and it's bloody expensive.)

Security... The staff are VERY strict about checking IDs and this is good for you, right? They also ring your room before the guest is allowed to leave. And if you don't answer your phone (like me on my last trip - I was in the shower!) then they will send someone up to the room to check it out before they let the poor femboy squirming at reception leave!

The rooms have a night safe of course and the room service is cheap and very good and available 24/7.

The swimming pool is always immaculately clean. I've never once ever seen it even slightly dirty.

The mini bar is moderately priced.

The plastic loo seats aren't screwed in properly and the tables and chairs wouldn't fetch a farthing at a car boot sale either! The TV is too small and it's miles from the bed - this is a 'junior suite' remember!

They are very guest friendly whether it be girl. boy or lb...

Check in is always quick and expedicious although it takes a while to crank up that old photo copier so they can copy your passport!

The location is close to The Sportsmans Bar which do a great full English breakfast and also close to The Lek Hotel which have a breakfast and dinner buffet each and every day.

There are plenty of better hotels and better prices out there. I go here for the convenience and because I'm familiar with it. For me it's a 'home from home.' It's not perfect and it is a bit creaky these days, but I still traipse back there every time I go on my two day sojourns!

    Hope this helps!

        for me, in order:
sunshine residence, soi 8 (thanks to the late great rob69)
keerati lodge, soi diana (thanks to monkeyman)
areca lodge, soi diana (thanks to someone here, but i forget who, probably on pattaya hotel thread if you take a few minutes to look -- and you *should*!)
        and finally
dynasty inn, soi 13 - or is that 13/2 i forget because if you stay there 2 nights, you get a free minibus ride from the dynasty (or dynasty grande) in bkk, not to mention, you can stagger home from 131 or stringfellows in 2 minutes.

i'll be returning to one (or more) of those places on my next (third) trip to pattaya.
        good hunting.

I think that mini-bus thing isn't really worth it.

You can get a bus from Ekamai to Pattaya bus station for 114 baht. The Dynasty Inn charges about 1300 baht a night and there are plenty of places just as good (try Inn Town Holiday on Soi 11, second road) that chage half that amount. Not penny pinching here, but for a free ride worth 114 baht you have to lay down an extra 1300 baht - not too free in my book.

Another good choice on Soi Diana is LK Metropole. Stayed there during my May trip and will return.

i walked by that place many times heading up to 3rd street for 40baht lunches at the open air cafe to the right and i wondered what it was like inside...so... ladyboy friendly i presume? do they have the usual deluxe and standard variations in their rooms? i like to spoil myself a bit on vacation and don't mind approaching the 2000 baht mark IF it's a big step up from 'standard' (like the difference at the sunshine between ocean view residence and 2nd floor standard -- like two different hotels, that is!) ...
              thanks.

Nice rooms in front of the swimming pool, 960 baht, LB friendly and ... 2 steps way of 131

Haven seems to have lots of mixed reviews. I have never stayed there, but its either really liked or really hated for some reason. I believe the owner is either a "great guy, very accomodating" or "an overbearing nosy idiot" depending upon your point of view of the reviews I remember reading.

                    Cheers

                    • Pattaya Bay Resort

Brand new hotel. Pattaya 2nd Road soi 15.

Stayed there this week after being recommended by Stewart. Very friendly staff. Has a swimming pool and fitness centre.

The only real bad part is it is a fair distance from second road but you can get the free tuk tuk there and a motorbike back.

Only 790 baht per night for a standard room.

                      • Soi 13 has a LOT of nice hotels, I usually stay at Ma Maison or Whitehouse condotel. I have heard good things about Haven. Dynasty and Lek are also on that Soi,. My only bad experience was at Inn House where someone complained I was making too much noise ( and it was only 11pm).

If you do use Pattaya Centre Hotel......DO NOT USE A CREDIT CARD...I have twice heard of them cloning cards.

ps. None of these have Joiner fees, Except for Whitehouse which charges if you have more than 1 guest

What do you think about the different room types? Did you get a look at them?

                            • Even though I'm not Stogie or Billy, I'll add my unsolicited 2 cents worth.

I highly reccomend the Pattaya Marriott. Its clean, comfortable, very nice swimming pool/facilities, in the heart of the action, and very girl friendly (I got a salute from the the security guard each time I brought home my date for the evening). Only down side it is a little a on the pricey side, but well worth it in my opinion.

This posivite review in away reinforces another thread dealing with customer service (or lack therof) at the Barely Legal Bar. I guess the point is (and business owners/managers should keep this in mind) that if I'm happy with a place I'm more than happy to reccommend it to others (which I'm doing here with the Marriott). On the other hand if I'm unhappy with a business, I'll put in even more effort in making sure they lose business. In other words keep your customers happy (or as Tom Peters would say, "at least don't hate your customers.")
