  • Swimming pools in Bangkok

Hope you can help me out on this guys,
spent a few times in Bangkok last 2 years, 7-8, some in real cheap shithole so called hotels down in Banglampu, but also a nice 7 days stay at Dynasty Grande... The swimming pool there at Grande, the hours of sun is very limited , because of the high buildings surrounding the pool area..

Are there any nice hotels, or other resorts/places with nice swimming pools, nice afternoon sun, hotels where you dont stay, but can use the pool area for a fee... preferly close to Sukhumit soi 1-4! Thanks in advise

Most of the 4 & 5 star hotels have pools. The Marriott and the Majestic grande both have nice ones.

      Thanks katoeylover,
let me refine my question, If I stay at alittle not so exclusive place, down in the 1000 bath area, Dynasty Inn, not at Dynasty Inn Grande, are there any hotels/places that allows people use their pool area for a fee, like The Marriot or Majestic Grande..... you with me?

YES u can use the pool at the marriot. ALSO u must know that the dynasty hotel is at the 1400 baht per night(LIKE THE NANA HOTEL) and not on the 1000 baht
price. it changed one year ago.

I don't understand the economics of this at all...

You want to spend 1,000 Baht for a room but don't mind paying a few hundred Baht for using someone elses pool during the day at a different location?

Why not just pay the extra and stay at a hotel with a pool? I have a feeling I'm missing something here...

Nice pool at the Omni on Suk Soi 4, about 4 minutes from NEP. Forget when the pool gets sun. Might be that Thais position pools to avoid sun.

Room at Omni is about 2000 baht. If Dynasty is really 1400 baht these days I'd upgrade to the Omni with pool for a few extra baht.

If staying at the Omni become an Ascott member, it's free to join and the room rate will be discounted by about 100 baht a night.

Pattaya you can use Yensabai Condo's pool for 200 a day, double last year's price.

In Phukett, I used the Paradise Hotels pool for 100 baht a day.

                Good advice.

As of today if you book directly with the hotel the rates are 1,280 Baht for the Dynasty Inn Grande or 1,290 Baht for the Nana Plaza hotel opposite (although the Nana is full tonight!)

Both these hotels, while adequate, are a bit cheap and cheerful! Upgrading is a must of you can spare a few extra bucks.

By the way... Thailand is getting very expensive for our American chums...

The price of a room in the above mentioned run-down meat markets is a newspaper shy of $40 USD! Damn... You can get a Motel 6 and have a wank at the cheezy movies for that price!

Why don't you go to Pattaya?
Back in the scene after a couple of years away. And no that does not mean I was residing at her majesty's pleasure. God it is good to be back among the girls with that bit extra!

True the sunshine hours at DIG are restricted to around 50 minutes around 1pm.Therefore I just turn up at the Nana Hotel wearing my shorts, grab a couple of towels and send a few hours on the sun lounger while taking a sandwich and cup of tea.
Who is to know you are not a resident and so long as I give the hotel some business everyone is happy.

No doubt! I was fortunate to visit in 2000 during the crash when my buck was worth around 48 baht, but today it's only worth 32-33 baht.

My amigo Thaibound and I had this discussion last week, and despite the fact that we're getting less bang for the buck there isn't anywhere on the face of the Earth we would rather be.  Even at 32-1, we still view Thailand as a bargain.

Places like the D I Grande have been a huge help in off setting this drop in buying power. With the 40% savings over what I once gladly forked out to stay at Majestic G, I can manage the conversion rate and don't have to curtail any sanuk.

                      See you all next week!

Ha... pentire, I've done the same thing many times in many hotels and you know what? I've never been caught or even questioned.

So long as you know where the lift is and the right floor for the pool then your laughing...

Don't ANY bangkok hotels have pools on the ground floor?

Yeah even with all the security at the Marriott I'm sure any Falang could just walk in and find their way up to the pool... no one would know.. and if you did get question just say something like I'm meeting my friend who's staying here in room 1210... his name is Bam I meet him last night in Cascades!

Here is a photo taken from my room... looking down at the pool that I think was on the 6th floor... not 100% sure on that. It overlooks the Sukhumvit Soi 2 side of the hotel...

Thanks PigDogg and Pentire, I will check it up, and in Pattaya there are lots of hotels with pools in soi 13, AAA Hotel has a big one on the roof, Lek Hotel on the ground for Stogie Bear if you afraid of elevators, Lek has a breakfast buffe for just 110 bath, its just opposite Dynasty Inn (DI has a small pool at the roof, its more like a big jacuzzi) I mean, Pattaya has one of the worst beach in Thailand, and dont say that Jomtien is better.been there, seen it...

I assume Stogie means the Dynasty Inn on soi 4 and not the Dynasty Inn Grande on soi 6 which is 2,2,80 baht per night and has a pool.
