Warning! JW Marriott under "refurbishment".  Stayed there last April and had to listen to hammers, saws, & electric drills for a week starting at 7am (weekends included). Management changed my room, didnt help. I looked at their web site last night and the small type says they have ongoing construction through October 2007. So if your sensitive to noise, there's better places to stay...

It just sounded to good to be true. 1900 baht for a 4/5 star hotel in central sukhumvit. Seems like it will have to be the dynasty grand. Never stayed there but from the reviews here it sounds prefect. Still I liked the Omni Tower but something new and different is makes the trip more interesting.

I love staying at the JW, but even 2 ladyboys snoring like lumberjacks wouldnt cover the sound of a power saw first thing Saturday morning. I'm sure there's days where all they do is paint, but Marriott runs the following info. so they do not have to cover any refunds when construction does get loud. And they know it will, thats why they do it in the off-season. As you can see newcomer, the "special deal" falls right in the middle of Marriotts construction time frame.
Refurnishment plan: - Phase 2: Remaining 120 deluxe rooms (start date,approximately May 01,07 estimated completion October Oct.31,07)
- JW Marriott Bangkok will temporarily close the floor where the rooms refurbishment is taking place to minimize any possible disturbance to guests
- The Refurbishment will not impact any of food and beverage outlets/operations, health club,spa,swimming pool and/or meeting facilities.

That's why I'll be at The Majestic Grande in May (sleeping-in)...

Only untill 5 am, what the fuck is slowing you down. Perhaps it is the girls that can't keep up with you. Bit of noise never hurt nobody.

Anyone know how to find info about the Thai/Marriott deal? I just went thru all of Thai Airways website (specific to Australia) and found nothing about this deal. I am thinking of flying USA to Australia to BKK if I could get this deal. I have never been to Australia and can fly USA-Sidney at no cost. So I thought I might fly there for maybe a week then get this Marriott deal. Thanks for the help.

It looks like this is a deal you would have to follow up in Oz through a local Travel agent and book your Syd/BKK R/T trip with them.

Just got sorted with Thai for my next "Tour of Duty", but had to ring Thai BKK to get it the white staff in London just don't seem interested, the Thais are much more helpful.

However, they were offerring LHR - BKK return economy class for £483 all in! However the ticket booking catagorey is W, you cant do anything with it, no refunds, no changes, no transfers, no name changes, no upgrades & I suspect no airmiles either.

No hotel deals on that route that I am aware off.

Sure everyone knows JW is a fine chain but I would not pay there prices even if discounted with my hard earned dollars I leave that to my clients. In Bkk on my hols I can get an exceptional juniour type suite, exec appartment, in a beautifully quiet, upbeat and well to do neighbourhood for 1000baht/night - kitcken, microwave, tv, dvd, balcony,swimming pool, close to excellent eateries and 1 upbeat restaurant etc.. 30mins from the action. I could not ask for more luxury for such an outstanding suite but $$$$ cost too....

And after 10years searching BKK its my secret unless...

JW Marriott have finished the renovations for those of you worried about any noise problems. The new rooms are way cool now.
