(Ivor Biggun @ Nov. 13 2008,02:06) Anybody ever used the Honey Hotel, Soi 19? It's the only place in the area a friend has recommended. I'm passing through the night of 28 Dec.
I often have short stays in the Honey and take one of their "carpark" rooms for THB800/night - these have the advantage of not having to pass reception to get to room.
Reservations through Miss Fon at [email protected]

I was also going to stay again at the Omni Towers for my upcoming visit to BKK having been pleased with it in 2005. Not only is it no longer part of Ascott Group, I've seen that it now caters to budget Arab family travelers and that hordes of their unsupervised young kids roam the lobby and hallways behaving poorly. I'm going to take my chances elsewhere.

checked out CITADINES Serviced Apartments in Soi11 yesterday and was given a tour of the faculties by the duty manager . Can say that building is first class ,a little on the small side (catering to about 30 apartment style rooms of studio and 1 bedrooms . I saw both the studio and one brm and both are modern and well designed . Both have internet connection and plasma screens .
Ok points of interest
The Gym and pool are not completed and wont be until mid to late December.
both studio and the one brm do not have any washing facilities in the rooms ( as they are passing them off as long term stay rooms, I thought that this was pretty poor ) But was told that they do have washing facilities on site , which was an extra charge ,
Internet was free on a day to day booking but not on a long stay booking ( again i thought this was a bit weird ) If booking long stay expect to pay 2250 Bht .
the hotel itself is located towards the end of soi 11 close to bed club , so its a bit of a walk to get to the action ( great if you like the club scene) .
As for guess friendly . cant give a definite answer , but hey this is Bkk .
would I stay there ? yes, but only short term as i don't think it matches up to some of the other apartment style hotels I've stayed at
Prices I was quoted
studio ,day rate : 2,200.00 (Can get a better rate of their web site ), monthly rate 51,316.00 Bht
1 brm day rate 3,200.00 ,monthly 69,011.00

Ok , i hit CITADINES Serviced Apartments in Soi 8 today . . i originally thought that it was right at the end of soi 8 . Well it turn out that its about 5 hundred meters from Suk rd . ( still a bit of a walk i known )
Ok points of interests ...
good news is that they have a shuttle service to take you to nana skytrain or Suk rd and back again ( which i tried on the way back to great applause )
Basically its the same design / set out as the ones in soi 11 .Roughly 130 apartments
Pool and fitness are both operational , but very small . the thing i like though is that the laundry service and pool/gym are all on the same floor .( So you can put your washing on and then go for a swim/gym ....
prices are about the same as soi11 .long term renters are not charged extra for Internet ... just check their web site for info .. pictures are 85% accurate .... Hope this helps you guys wanting some info on the place ....

Can anyone suggest a ST room around Nana thats decent yet cheap for a couple of hours. I have to stop bringing them home, they come by later and try to get past the condo security and it's becoming an issue.
Do the regular cheap hotels give attitude if you get the room for just a couple of hours and then leave? What about around GB, any short time rooms?
Thanks,
Nhscotsman

I saw an ad in the Bangkok Post saying that rooms at the Green Bells start at 13K a month and they also have a special deal where the first night is only 990.
Not the best location for the ladyboy monger but the rates above seem pretty god for what u get.
Here's a link and the website indicates the prices are much higher so best to call and mention the Bangkok Post.

An FYI for those planning to visit LOS during 2009. During my latest visit Dec 08/Jan 09, my friend who owns the Grand Business Inn on Sukhumvit Soi 11 told me the following:
Most business travelers have been instructed by their companies to cut back on staying at 5 star hotels, they must now stay at 3/4 star hotels when on business in Thailand.
This means a couple of things, occupancy at 3/4 star hotels will not drop as much as expected from lower tourist visitors.
5 star hotels will likely offer steep discounts to attract guests.
So, if you plan to stay at the 3/4 star hotel, book well in advance to assure you will get your reservation. If you have a bit more $$$ to spend, there will be good values on the 5 star hotels, and you can likely wait later to book if that's where you want to stay.
