i stayed at the majestic hotel in october of 2005 and can recommend it without qualifications. very guest friendly and staff were wonderful. the breakfast buffet is not to be missed, so either get up early or stay up late. besides, it is complimentary, so you can save some baht for more important pursuits.i plan on staying there again this year. have yourself a great time.

I will be staying in bkk in june and read somewhere that said either the nana, dynasty, or one of the majestic hotels has a "quieter" area of rooms where you can bring guests in through a side entrance (using your room card as a door pass) and bypass the front desk, does this ring a bell to anyone?
            I'd appreciate the info, thanks.

                Hello Obelixir,

I believe you are refering to the Dynasty. The hotel is in two parts. The older front section which is on Soi 4 just down from NEP. The newer rear section is behind the front part and the easiest way in/out is a small side alley that runs down the side of the old building. The entrance to this is a small lobby with a lift.

The Majestic Suites just have one entrance off Sukumvit.

I've never stayed at the Nana hotel so not exactly sure of the layout - but as far as I know it only has the one entrance past the reception desk.

Don't worry about the hotel staff - I'm sure in these three places they have seen everything

                  The hell they're not
Last time I was there, I had the second floor room (231?) with a full view of the side alley to the street. Got a few pics of the hotties coming and going, and actually hijacked one babe by waving money at her and holding up a piece of paper with my room # on it.
It was also handy for when I saw Bartman coming, I could hide under the bed

Obelixir the front desk is a good thing, and they don't give a shit "What" you bring back. having the security of the girls ID at the desk is a little assurance incase you get a girl with questionable intent
                  have fun dude r-man

                    Hi troops
yea im dynasty man myself, best place ivé stayed in around the area. has anyone tried the dynasty grande yet, bit expensive what. dont know if it's been mentioned before but if your staying at the resort(dynasty) in pattaya, theres a door you can use by the pool to avoid rec-bar-res-lobby when returning with a friend. it's to the left as you look at the main building from the pool.

I have studied the responses on this thread at length and have come to the following conclusions:
                      1. All things being equal, neither the lady nor I will be together in a room for the ambience.
                      2. Not being terminally wealthy, my budget will be limited to about 15k baht for the two days, which I intend to disburse fully. I would much rather share it with the ladies than the institutions.
                      3. On the other hand, seeing a roach leap from a pillow to the pubic area can certainly dampen the erotic in erotica so I do not intend to share my exotic moments with my guest in a flop house.
Conclusion: within those limitations. the best recommendations so far have benn Majestic Suites.
I should be arriving by May 11.
                      Thanks for all the information.

For all those considering The Dynasty Inn Soi 4 just ask Dummy Plug about the cockcroaches in his bathroom. Funny story but indeed a worry when you have to dance with them taking a shower. To be continued as per his usual story telling style.

                              (jungleland @ Mar. 26 2006,13:51) Hi troops
yea im dynasty man myself, best place ivé stayed in around the area. has anyone tried the dynasty grande yet, bit expensive what. dont know if it's been mentioned before but if your staying at the resort(dynasty) in pattaya, theres a door you can use by the pool to avoid rec-bar-res-lobby when returning with a friend. it's to the left as you look at the main building from the pool.
I stayed at the Dynasty Grand last weekend and will be back there again in a few days. Current 'opening offer' seems to vary - but I paid 1700 baht incl tax & service - in my opinion its excellent value - I have also stayed at JW Marriott, Landmark, Westin, Grande Sheraton, Banyan Tree and Grande Majestic and I would say that baht for baht the Dynasty Grand is the best.

Rooms are huge - king size bed, big bathroom with bath and seperate shower, in room safe, minibar etc - Basically its a deluxe 4* room only downer was no tea & coffee stuff and the 29" TV only had 12 channels - none of which were Thai.

Room service is adequate and cheap - breakfast incl small pot coffee, bacon, sausages, ham, eggs, hash browns, toast, jam, croissant was 180 baht.

All the staff (at least front desk) have moved over from the Dynasty on Soi 4 - nothing shocks these gals - LB's are no problem - you do need to leave ID. The only downside is that room is for 2 people - anymore and you have to pay additional fee, but 1 is no extra charge.

Nice pool area, but little on the shady side, overall nice hotel and I'll return - personally I rate it better than the Grande Majestic even if they were the same price - Basically the Dynasty Grande is a higher end whoremongers hotel - where the Grande Majestic has pretensions of being a 'family' hotel.

Its located about 100m into Soi 6 which is reached by walking down soi 4 past the original Dynasty and on for about 200m then swing left into Soi 6. From the hotel to Nana is less than a 5 minute walk.

                              Cheers

More on the Vietnam era hotels. Miami Hotel, Federal Hotel, Crown soi 6, Crown soi 27, Golden Palace soi 1, Grace Hotel soi 3, some run down, some coming up again, all cheaper than the average.
