I see that Dynasty have a new hotel on soi4 called the Dawin. Is it just a new wing of the Dynasty inn? Anyone stayed there yet?

looks nice and priced between Dynasty Inn and DIG. Worth a look - pity I booked another hotel already (just a few days ago)

Checked into the Dawin yesterday and had a bad experience last night. Firstly I came in with 2 lbs from cascades and got hit with a 500 baht 2nd guest fee which i didn't know about. Then the keycard for the room didn't work, I went back to reception a couple of times and they tried resetting the card but still didn't work. Ended up waiting for an hour while staff tried to open the door and eventually they had to put me into another room assuring me they would resolve the problem in the morning. I said I hope you are going to remove the 2nd guest fee from my bill for all this inconvenience which they said they would. I gave them a list of things I wanted for the room such as toothbrush, toothpaste, KY and condoms and insisted they went out and bought them for me, they begrudgingly did this but when they brought them to my room they said the 2nd guest fee was being reinstated because they bought those items for me  
I got up at 8 am this morning and asked if anyone had fixed the door and the receptionist just looked blankly at me, I explained the situation and another 30 mins fucking about with the door when they finally changed the batteries to the electronic keycard mechanism of the door and I finally got back into my room.
The hotel is just a newer version of the DI, nothing particularly luxurious about it. Room same size as DI, the flatscreen TV is nice but same old shitty channels.
I'm checking out this morning and moving into the Dynasty Inn, I often like to take 2 lbs and refuse to pay the 2nd guest fee.

Hi Simon,

The joiners fee for a 2nd guest is an interesting one.

My experience has varied at the Dynasty Inn group hotels depending on which staff member happened to be stationed at reception.

Both the Dynasty Inn and the DIG have a joiner fee for the second guest Simon so you might want to ask before you check in.

I was just packing to check out of Dawin when the receptionist called to say her boss wasn't going to charge me for last night if I would stay the on as booked and If I still wanted to check out i would be charged 1000 baht. I decided to check out but it was finally a gesture I would of expected from a newly opened hotel.
Back in Dynasty Inn now, cant say i've ever been charged for a 2nd guest while staying here...... maybe it's because I generally take them in round the back

Was charged 500 on 2 occassions at the Dynasty Inn last month with the second guest so I am pretty sure that is there polciy mate and you may just have been lucky.

I have definitely always been charged at DIG for 2nd guest...I haven't stayed at DI so can't say there. Only way I got out of it 1 time was when my first guest came over early in the afternoon...we had our fun...then while she took a nap I went out and found the 2nd guest...hehe...they hadn't (as is typical) checked the ID of the afternoon guest. SO they only had record of 1 guest....

Fool that I am, without asking anyone here, I just booked a week at the Dawin...I think I'll cancel and go back to the DIG for now and check it out when I arrive...

I have not been charged for the 2nd guest at DIG or Majestic Suites. I don't think I've tried taking 2 guests either time I stayed at the Dynasty Inn, but I think I could have gotten away without paying it as I was staying in the back section where it seems they only sometimes check the LB's id card.
