(pattayalover @ Oct. 05 2007,18:34) Don't bother booking...I've done this everytime during the high season--showing up anytime w/out a reservation.   Find the hotel you want, even if it is full...talk to the mgr or someone in charge, ask them to reserve the next available room and give them a 2,000  (or more) bt tip...ask to fill out the guest card, and indicate that you're staying for 3 weeks+ (or a long time)....Then go find a shitty short time hotel (if you know where to go)and crash for a few hours, get your dick wet then go claim your room.  Works everytime.  Baht talks bullshit walks...

As risky as it sounds it does work great in Thailand! The fully booked Marriott suddenly had a room available for me when I showed up at the hotel front desk. The room however was only available for 3 days... however after slipping the guy only 500 baht I was told I could stay as long as I wanted.

Most all hotels will overbook in high season for the very reason they want to guarantee all their rooms will be used so they make the most money possible. If you show up without a reservation and have a wad of cash they will be more then willing to bump someone off the list and give you that room right away.
