Help with hotels for Xmas

Just managed to book a place but seem a bit of a way out.

Strange, I am sure this has closed down and is being turned into apartments by the Nova Group. The location is actually very good for Walking Street - its about 2 minute walk from that little soi that has the Blues Factory and JP Bar.

Don't bother booking...I've done this everytime during the high season--showing up anytime w/out a reservation. Find the hotel you want, even if it is full...talk to the mgr or someone in charge, ask them to reserve the next available room and give them a 2,000 (or more) bt tip...ask to fill out the guest card, and indicate that you're staying for 3 weeks+ (or a long time)....Then go find a shitty short time hotel (if you know where to go)and crash for a few hours, get your dick wet then go claim your room. Works everytime. Baht talks bullshit walks...

Thanks guys but I'd already paid upfront through hotelclub.net for the Baiyoke Hotel. Mardhi had me worried so i called hotelclub, they called the hotel and assured me its still there and open at xmas

..good luck dude, i hope ur hotel is there when u go to check in! I would be skeptical about anything those booking agents tell u over the phone; sure they will tell u the hotel is still there, whataya gonna do when u get there & it isn't; call the same person u talked to on the phone who told u it was??... good luck!
Don't worry tho, there's always room at the manger on Xmas Eve..

Also. the Baiyoke Hotel Pattaya has been on the market for about 3 years now and when a mate of mine stayed there in July (against my advice) he checked out within 3 hours of arriving Complaining the place was an utter disgrace.

I would not worry too much about it - if all else fails, just go to a short time hotel (lovely Home in Naklua springs to mind) and say you want to book in for XXnights - easy and cheap. Just dont expect a window in the room

PS I still reckon the original choice has closed down - I will try and drive past when I get a chance.

When I called up Hotelclub.net about it the guy there phoned the hotel and they confirmed it was business as usual.
If your passing by mardhi and can check its open it would be appreciated.
