Which airport is closer to Hua Hin please, the old or new one? And if anyone knows taxi prices too

Hua Hin - not much of a difference. I would guess a taxi would be $3000 - buts thats a real guess in the dark

Note - you CAN fly to Hua Hin, go to the NOK website, its a small prop plane and expensive, but it is an option. I've never flown it.

A regular Taxi is 2500 bt to Hua Hin from sukhumvit.

It has now been confirmed that the public taxis are now on the arrivals level.

No need to go down one level to get the public taxi - however, there are still the private taxi touts operating.

Price to Sukhumvit Road meter rate plus 50 Baht airport surcharge will be around 300 Baht. No need to use the tollways as it doesn't make much travel time difference, and save another 60 Baht.

Well I can again confirm they are on arrivals since I flew back into BKK tonight. Many touts even tight up to the real queue so be careful.

I paid 65 baht in total for tolls plus 183 on the meter plus 50 surchage from the airport. That was to Sukhumvit soi 6.

So rxpharm is near spot on with the 300 baht.

I've so far had 4 trips to LOS via the new airport all with Thai Airways, and my experience is that passport checks works better now. On my last trip i spent 5 min wating when arriving and about 10 minutes when departing. I used the same flight on all my trips, arrived 6 in the morning and departure 00:50 at night.

thanks for the update bbb2k2! The waiting time is quite dependent on the volume of arriving passengers, but is definitely improved since the airport first opened. On my current trip I arrived at 7 am and had a 30 min wait at immigration.

Something relatively new is that they have arranged the immigration checks for departing passengers by gate number. So check your departure gate before heading over to immigration after your check in and get yourself into the proper queue. It does take a bit of time if there is a long lineup, so give yourself at least 30 min to get through there, just in case.

Now the PPP seemingly will be the new government one has to wonder if all the changes with King Power will be reversed and they can reclaim all the space they had to give up for safety and washrooms!

Well, many of the problems have been addressed since the airport opened - but there is still necessary work to be done. If you have actually read the posts and checked the dates these discussions go back to the opening date of the airport.

Flew in last night expecting exactly what I found... hundreds of touts hounding you to use their taxis... I walked upstairs, found the first taxi waiting and got home by meter for 160 baht... although I did overtip him for NOT trying to hassle me and turning off the radio when I asked him to!

Arrivals at the new (is it OK to call it 'new' still?) airport are a hit and miss affair. It seems that the same amount of staff are on wether its quiet or busy. So far I've been lucky waiting about 20 minutes each time. But I know it can get horribly long sometimes waiting to get through passport control.

The airport is fine but would be perfect if they heaved out all the annoying taxi tout vermin and opened up the Duty Free areas to other business other than the King Power mafia.

Ozzie and I waited about 60 minutes at a hopelessly overwhelmed immigration section the other day 13/1 - about 4pm on our trip back from Siem Reap.  

Definitely the worst I have experienced - queues went half way down the entry ramp.   Most people were very patient (well Ozzie was, and I wasn't   )

Well this last trip i used the airport 4 times and never had a problem.

I actually flew in from Siem reap on the same flight as TT and Ozzie a day later and had no queues at all.

I think that if you avoid it at certain times (mornings 8am-10am, afternoons 4-6) then you will be ok.

Try landing at Heathrow at 7am in terminal 3 before you comment!!! The worst i have ever seen in immigration.
