Clothes-What type of clothes are okay to wear?  Here at home I love my jeans and a cotton or blended polo shirt.  Will that pass for okay there?

Footwear-I prefer sandals and hiking boots.  Do I need a different type?  If so, what type would you suggest?

Condoms-I noticed all the condoms here say made in India or Thailand Should I even buy em here then?  What the difference?
Lube-okay laugh but I never bought any ever, so, what brand or type do I get

Debit card or credit-I only use a credit card which is also the same card for Mac (ATM) card.  Its a combo card.  WIll that be enough?
I was also about to open an account before leaving with HSBC bank to get good exchange rates before leaving home and bring 200USD worth of Bhat and Rembi before going.  Is this a good or bad idea?

$10 seems fair - you'll pay more at the airport

jeans and polos - standard wear though the jeans may be too hot - usually wear shorts and polos.

Any lube - should be readily available in chemists in Thai.

One card is fine - change cash at the airport on arrival - you'll get a better rate in thailand than USA. Don't know about China though.

Don't stress any of this because all is available there. All you need is Tickets, passport and cash!!

You guys keeping commenting on the local condoms, but go to your local drugstore and check out the Durex box, odds are its made in Thailand. Thats said, I would not use the local no-name brands.

Camera - of course ! Memory is eaily available here, but runs about 10% more than USA prices.

Good Shoes, a must, if you plan on walking around.

Most medication is available here at local pharmacies, which are quite good. If you need something specific, like choloeserol drugs, etc.. I suggest looking up the various names it is available as, then you can check for name brands and generic versions.

Shopping In Bangkok is some of the easiest and cheapest anywhere, UNLESS you are a big guy, i.e. 3X or 4X. If you are average, you should have no problems getting clothes, shoes, suits, etc.. here.
Shop at MBK, Chatuuchak weekend market, Pratunam, Central stores, etc... If you buy on Patpong or the street vendors on Sukhemvit they will try and rip you off.


A lot of electronic gear is dual voltage, just check it say 100-220Volt on the charger/device. If it only says 100-120v then you will need a converter. USA plugs will fit 90% of the time (unless you run into some really old wiring).

If you buy pirate DVDs here (or in china), they will most likely be region free and work when you get home. But if you buy a legit DVD it will be region 3 (6 I think in China), and will not work on USA DVD player (unless you have a region-free player), But you would be able to play it on your computer.

Money wise - I'm a firm believer in the Cash for everything philosophy, and only use credit cards for (expensive) hotels and flights.

thats always in my hand luggage lol My case is always full cos i need to co-ordinate.. If i go for 2-3weeks i can normally last without washing anyc clothes... That my friend is how much shit i travel with.... Need to change that

Id stay away from Jaffa Cakes mate, there like Pattaya, Once u start......................... lol
