Crossing the road in Pattaya!

Back to the topic of crossings. First time I was told about them, I laughed. Then I saw a few crossing attendants with flags, acting on a wave-down basis, I laughed. But last visit to Pattaya, added to Dave's experience, it just makes me f*cking cross (sorry - 'angry' ).
I got knocked down by a motor bike in Chiang Mai a while back - on just such a crossing. So now I cross where it seems most dangerous. I assume most drivers will see me, and I do a Hanoi street cross ..... just walk at a steady pace and keep going. MUCH safer than crossing behind a vehicle on these crossings. There will be some deaths in Pattaya, judging by the behaviour of motorists, baht bus drivers, and of POLICE at these ridiculous crossings. Saw several near misses, where families were crossing, and one where a police car was following the vehicle that went thro on red ... and did .... nothing.
Congrats to Pattaya for adding to the delights of visiting their up market resort.TT

Wise words from a wise man...
This isn't the west and the Thais have no idea that the red light means stop...
There is a particularly dangerous one on Pattaya Nua in front of City Hall and Tesco...Don't trust it...You'll get killed..."It's not Gay if you beat them up afterwards." --- Anon
