Sorry, but that won't be a solution. If the Pheu Thai win the election the Yellow Shirts come out and it all starts again.

As for Thaksin, he did pass some policies that helped the poor, but calling him a good man ignores all the bad things he did while in office.

Also if elections were held now, you can be sure that the Democrats would not be allowed to peacefully run an election campaign in the Red Shirt provinces.

The pro-government group was setting up in front of Tesco Lotus on Pattaya Nua today...
Waving Thai and yellow flags and playing the national anthem...I suspect it's just a weekend
demonstration, but there were quite a few of them...Many more than the red shirt demonstration
a few weeks back...The protests expand...

Why does the monarch remain silent? Surely the King and all the King's men can intervene and arrest what appears to be a blood letting calamity in the making. This red shirt/yellow shirt pressure cooker has been on simmer since mid March. It is going to explode very soon and when it does I fear it will make the Iceland volcanic eruption feel like a dry popcorn fart in comparison.

It can't continue this way for much longer. Something needs to break soon and it will be a sad day for Thailand and its people. The monarch needs to step up to the plate and save his subjects from a terrible fate.

Steff, I think the time has come and gone when the monarch could actually effect this issue. Unfortunately he's gravely ill and probably hasn't the strength to do anything, even passing comment. And his heir has apparently decided to blend in with the furniture for the time being.

I don't think there's any panacea for this illness.

All said it wouldn't stop Me flying to Thailand, or having a night out in BKK.

Shite like this happens, life goes on, just have to keep away from the hot spots & keep your wits about you.

Pacci once said to me he wouldn't go to Bali or anywhere else in Indonesia cause of the Radical Muslims. Never stopped Me going & unless they run round BKK with M16's these Red shirts wont stop Me either.

After the 7-7 bombings in London, I was using the London underground as soon as it reopened, cant let these eejits win, life must go on as normal !

I am really holding my breath for Thailand.

I wanted to write more, but the time for clever comments is over, I feel.
I've got 3 silver Kinnarees sitting on my computer, looking at me with joined hands, calm, like nothing could change that enigmatic expression of serenity.

                Buddha help Thailand, please.

                    Manarak,

I concur. Thailand needs Buddha now and I hope Buddha will be there for it.

I have visited numerous Asian countries and spent considerable time in them. I have been to China 4 times and Japan 15. I have been to Thailand twice and only for brief periods. It is strange the emotional connection I've developed for the country and its people. Like you, I sit here surfing on my computer trying to keep abreast of the evolving developments in BKK. For some weird reason I truly care for the country and grieve every time another Thai life is taken.

I hope and pray this will get resolved without another drop of blood shed.

Here is a video showing that the grenade attack against the multi-color protestors at the Saladeng BTS station came from the Red Shirts' direction.

Hard to see, but at the 58 second mark, you can see the M79 grenade trajectory coming in from the right to the BTS bridge, clearly from the Red Shirts' side.

The evening papers yesterday published some pretty news at the airport. Seems like chaos down there. One reporter , maybe though exaggerating as they do, compared it so the last days in Saigon. Was it really that bad.

I seems that there is/was a backlog of flights due to the Volcanic ash and then a flood of people trying to get out of LOS due to the noted troubles.  At one stage a mini riot was prevented after 700 people tried to break through some kind of cordon set up.

I left just in time. I nearly got cought up in this shit..and dont start praying for help.

There aint no God..take my word for it!

Yeah, I suspect that any commotion at the airport has more to do with people being stuck there from the ash for a week or more and trying to get out on the next available, rather than anything happening downtown.
