I wonder if her "bruddah" just wanted more (he charged me 1300 baht) or was the 200 extra the commission he paid to Apple for the job?

I certainly don't begrudge her a cut, nor did I mind paying him the 1300. My plane was delayed almost an hour after all.

My usual deal with Apple (Swampy-Pattaya) is 1,100 so she is being straight with you. I usually give her or the surrogate 1,300 since there are tolls and they end up having to park their car at the airport and that can cost anywhere from 25 to 50 baht. I think 1,300 is fair. If your flight is late, or a crowd clearing customs and immigration and/or your luggage takes forever to get coughed up on the carrousel the driver ends up waiting for a considerable period of time.

When you arrive you should call Apple and let her know your status. You should also give her your number so she can find you. We usually meet at door number 3 however when you exit from the baggage area look for your name on a card. There are countless drivers there holding up cards from the moment you exit baggage all the way down to door number 3. And often times your name is misspelled. Once a driver was holding a card with "Stiff" on it for me. :-)

1300 is fair and will be done. I honestly only took my Blackberry to LOS once ah I couldnt get it to work. The meeting is at door 3 and I gave her my last name so I dont think there are many with that arriving. I will have to get a phone when I arrive. Thanks for all the help.

If you didn't have roaming enabled on your Blackberry it won't work. Just as well as the cost of making calls in Thailand on an American simcard is ridiculous.

You need to buy a Thai simcard & some credit & replace your American simcard. Or buy a phone once you are in Pattaya.

Don't bother trying to sort out sims & credit after a long flight, just go to the Meeting Place (follow the signs) & look for your name.

Make sure you email her your flight number & ETA. That way Apple can check if you are running late.
