The first comment I will make is that I have lived in Phuket for 5 years now, and fly in Thailand regularly. The only direct flight from Pattaya to Phuket is Bangkok Airways. Having said that, I have flown on this airline many times with no problems. Bangkok Air also has a free refreshment lounge area in !every airport, with free wireless internet in some. Their price is fair in my opinion.
Next, Air Asia has good pricing if you buy at the right time. I have experienced as much as a 4 hour delay for a 1 hour and 20 minute flight with Air Asia.
Nok Air is maybe my favorite, because they still fly to, and from Don Meung Airport in Bangkok. This airport is smaller, less busy, and most of all, closest to where I stay at Sukhumvit, Soi 4 in Bangkok.
The last comment I will give involves pricing. Thai Airways flys many flights daily, are usually on time, but are definitely the costliest overall.
