I m not a british, i come from a latin country where extremist party have always recorded good result on election..ever in 2002, the national party( that offered to deported all the foreigners) was opposite to republican party

i always think England and English was open and very tolerant, not a paradise for sure, but a country where ever if you have brown skin, if you re muslim or budhist  or simply  if you re a foreigner with few english..this country will give a chance to became a citizen of his majesty...Mr brits you can complaint against foreigner in your country, but no one has boo "the god save the Queen" in a national stadium
in my country social welfare is far more generous than your country.;but if you have  brown skin, arabic or indian name, if you wear a hijab you will hardly get a job...we give money to immigrant,simply because since the 70's oil crise we don t care about them...
So if the racism reach to the same level as my country...i warned you it will be worst than now in UK
i m sorry if my view of england seemed old fashion to you..i just look england with different eyes... i m not british but i like this country and the people..ever if we are supposed to be the worst enemy in europe
for those who want to live in thailand, did it like a cambodian,lao or burmese and you will see if thailand is no good and thai people so nice..thai people love you until you have money and nothing else

Bloody Hell! Just to make it absolutely clear, my post was meant to be deeply, deeply ironic. To explain it more clearly I was exaggerating a point of view I have read expressed many times on this board to emphasize how ludicrous it seems to me to be.

Many people who post here have in fact immigrated into Thailand, because it's easy, cheap and it suits them.
Fine! I hope to do that myself one day. It would be hard for me having done that to then declare that I believe that other people should be prevented from immigrating to the UK or US because it's easy, cheap and it suits them. I would find that a morally and intellectually hypocritical position to take!

Despite avoiding a technical recession, things have deteriorated here in Oz, there are no grounds for gloating.

I keep reading reports of how the world has turned the corner, Wall Street has regained most of its losses, things are getting back to normal.

I can only wonder what planet these writers are on because they are deceiving us if we are led to believe that the worst is over.

The next line of collapse is in the area of personal finance. Credit card defaults will wipe billions off the value of already battered banks.

It has started to happen now but the bad news is disguised by all the spin coming out of the US Treasury & the Federal Reserve.

I just don't know how long they can maintain the charade, what they so poetically describe as "quantitative easing" is nothing more than the monetising of the US debt, an intolerable situation that must lead to the collapse of the US dollar.

This has been done so fiercely, so relentlessly, with none of the other options even considered that it leaves me with the conclusion that this is exactly what the Government has intended to do all along - collapse the US dollar & inflate away all the debts.

Angela Merkel in Germany is leading the resistance against the Euro following suit, Germany has seen what hyper-inflation can do with their experience with the Weimar Republic in the 1920's.

It looks like the US has her stuffed though, Germany's exports would fall into a hole if the Euro doesn't respond. And Ireland & Spain plus the eastern economies cannot afford a strong Euro.

There are so many more hands to be dealt, more twists to be negotiated  before this is over. The idea that everything will be peachy next year is pure fantasy, a more realistic time frame is 10 years but the world won't wait that long.

IMO this will end the way all these things do, in a war. Maybe not WWIII but a geopolitical jolt of such magnitude that the US will seize the rebuilding process just like they did after the last war & charge the rest of the world to undo what they started.

They are already doing just that in Iraq, US contractors are earning billions a year from the contracts the US-friendly (and appointed) government were forced to sign. It was only a very alert Iraqi official who spotted the clause that would have handed the US exclusive rights to their oil fields forever.

Absolute fact, hidden inside a 1000 pages of contract they were given 24 hours to approve, was the binding agreement to all future development of Iraq's unsecured oil fields. Enough reason for Saddam to be killed.

How Dick Cheney reacted to the news that this attempt to steal the biggest prize in the world was not recorded but I would have loved to be a fly on the wall when he learnt the news.

From an historical perspective, this is the best story I have been a witness to in my life. These are historical times, throw in the diversions of North Korea, an increasingly belligerent Russia, the unpredictable Chinese, an increasingly sceptical Europe, a financially wounded UK...
