It will always be from within the country where the flight originates. i.e. Singapore buy from a Singapore based source. HKG, same, BKK, same etc etc. Other than that, just lots of legwork required. By the way Thai are losing money hand over fist at the moment and just unveiled much lower fares. From Singapore, as an example, they would be even cheaper through to Europe via BKK. Same with almost every other airline that requires a stop-over/change of aircraft.
I have yet to ever see a web source beat an agent in Asia for fares other than low cost carriers. traditional carriers still use agents (exception maybe, just maybe SQ).
BA have some fantastic Business Class deals at the moment. London-Singapore £2000 return London -Sydney £3000. I know not the cheapest but condifering these fares can go for up to £7000 it's a great deal. Ends Jan 27th.
Bad news is British Hosties compared to the babes on Singapore Airways, but may be good for you Stewart to get re-aquainted with the white hippo on a small scale before you enter there habitat.
