Those are fucking amazing prices. I can never seem to get to BKK for anything less than $1,000USD (I think thats about £700 or so).

Used Etihad last month - MAN - BKK. No problems. Nearly as good as Emirates.
Booked the flight using Airline Network for £403 including taxes and travel insurance

Don't know where you are looking DP, but right now, if you are a little flexible with dates, you can get a flight from SFO to BKK for as little as $550 plus tax....a little over $700 USD...

I am thinking of using Etihad myself next time from Manchester.
The price and flight times are great.
Can anyone tell me what the entertainment system is like on Etihad, as I dont sleep on flights.

The system on the Manchester-Dubai legs with Emirates is new and absolutely brilliant, you can watch what you want when you want, even pausing a film while you go for a piss, its the "dogs bollocks"

So any info on Etihad would be much appreciated

ethiad has touch screen tv's and approx. 5+ watchable films, which is ok for getting to bkk, but on the way home i was struggling to find something to watch. yes you can stop the films and rewind etc.. but mine was a bit tempremental on one leg and didn't always work properly.
there have been random reports of the screens not working (happened to someone in front of me) and delays to flights but mine was ok.
the best thing was the fact they served warm jam and clotted cream scones and a lamb chop on one leg.
i liked the stop-over airport but fear it could be too small if your on a full flight with others waiting there too.
i'd recommend it and have booked again with them.

For the last 5 years have beein flying from Manchester with Emirates usually paying average £500.00 however over the last 18 months with the introduction of more competition ( Qatar & Etihad) i can now obtain flights for £100 less ! I think the word 'competition' springs to mind ! Latest booking with Etihad Sept cost £411.00

Emirates prices still remain around the £500 mark - I fear unless Emirates reduce their prices their 2 flights a day will be reduced to 1 !

Its from £470 one way business. The words "from" needs to be noted carefully.

I tried to get a search on a return fair but the server is broken down. They will be fully booked on every flight if its true. Cathay charge about 2300 for BClass return direct and not via Abverzxagistan.

Its not thru Abverzxagistan, Its thru Baghdad.

                      (jk, its direct)

The price is the same for the return flight, I priced economy RT at 401 quid incl taxes

Yes - good prices if you make that route.

Old planes though - 747-400's from Singapore Airlines.
