 as always Jim you do a great job promoting the bar. i hope the crap in BKK and the exchange rate doesnt keep to many away and low season isnt as bad for the bar in which im sure you and other bar owners are worried.

Yes, it's not really hit us yet, but i'm pretty certain it will! I've noticed a severe drop in tourist numbers recently, and hotel bookings in Phuket for June stand at 12%, and likely to drop even lower. Does it stop the massive construction of hotels and guesthouses? No, thais aren't that bright. Christ, there's going to be some pain this year! And with the World Cup, the troubles in Bangers, and the collapse of the euro: the immediate future really looks grim.

You may have already read about some of the bars, on my thread. So, just to add to that: i think there'll be a lot of farangs returning to their home countries soon, a lot poorer. The Dream must be turning to a Nightmare for some!

I hate being a doom monger, but until nations start leaving the euro, its going to get really bloody.

Talking of bloody: can you believe how inept the thai army is? FFS, just send in a tank to roll over the barricades and move in en masse with rubber bullets! Job done in 24 hours! But no, in Thailand everybody fannies around pretending to not want to hurt their fellow citizens. What a load of bollocks; the thais are some of the most murderous little c*nts in the world!

Jimbo, Thanks so much for your hospitality over my 2 stays this trip in Patong. I thoroughly enjoyed my time in the Bar, the staff and out of it . I am sorry I couldn't stay and say my goodbyes as I needed to get to my loom for a sleep before today's flight and your 30min Croc monger had gone 1 hour by the time I left, lol. I hope you can maintain some sort of steady stream or trickle of BMs and others coming through the doors to help you through these times, at least you can get to HKT without going to BKK. I salute you & the bar staff especially 'Fred' and little May and the girls, well what can I say. I will miss it all very much, til next time!

On my wanders last night C&D was probably the busiest of anywhere I visited. Most of the beer Sois were dead. Not particularly upset about Tiger as I hate the place but the knock on effect of the downturn in everything will see more going back up north to stay on the farm. On the bright side it's a buyer's market for us mongers ( downside- there's less to choose from)!!

.. .. your right about that, now would be the right time to find those'superstar' LBs that u can never touch base with; longer time & lower rates would seem to be the order of the day, especially for the GGs there which i prefer myself.. & now that volcano in Iceland is shutting down air traffic in the U.K. and other areas in Europe, more bad news for travel to LOS! .. and as for exchange rates there, its about time the euro & BP got knocked down a bit, us Yanks have been at the bottom for too long now & were paying much more for our trips there, now u can feel the pain like we have for the last 5 yrs..

It's not about the Euro and the GBP getting knocked, more the artificial inflation of the baht. In the past 5 years GBP had gone from B73 to b46- if that isn't pain I don't know what is. At least the USD has been fairly constant. This must be the only country in the world with civil disorder and the value of the currency increases. Not enough of a player on the world stage for the speculators to have a go unfortunately.

Enough of this and back to mongering !!!
