McDonalds? .... there are HUNDREDS of little genuine Thai places with few or no Farang to eat at. A number of them even have LB eating at them after hours.  There's a lot to Patong and region, sometimes you just have to open your eyes to what's about.

stogie mate,u stirred one up here on phuket,real amazing as it goes,im just wondering whats behind your unjustified and "unqualified" (considering you say youve never set foot there yourself) sentiments regarding phuket? one of the better parts of thailand to visit if your holidaying. my comment "somedody needs to get out more" can be taken to mean in the literal/physical sense or the philosophical one, so is hua hin a craphole to? could be i love the place but theres much less there than phuket,its just different.it depends what a guy is after mate,i like to mix it up when im in LOS differnt places the city the beach the shops markets and pervy mongering in pattaya,if you looked at it by sheer numbers then pattaya has got it(LB and GG)but then most of em are fresh outa the ugly school and not up to it ,so it could be argued that pattaya is indeed shite for actually it should be better by numbers. as a percentage thing bkk is way ahead(by a mile in terms of quality LB and GG so why bother with pattaya? more of a crap hole than phuket..........argue that one.......i like others have spent time in both places,i qualify my comments by that fact, so............?

aussies twice tried to start a fight with my mate and i, without having any altercation on our part, they were just brawlers looking for a brawl. strange.
not much in the way of LBs.
tuk tuk wouldnt give me my change, reported to police, they didnt care.
the suit guys are relentless...
i talked to some thai ladies who sold late night food, they were from isan, they were quite nice. i asked them about the people working in phuket, they all agreed that there was something wrong with the locals, there, that they were scammers and baddies...
even pattaya is better than phuket!

I recently spent a week in Phuket and loved it.

I didnt get any hassle's of the tuk yuk drivers because I hired a motorbike.
The Suit guy's got a "I already have suit sorry" reply from me and left me alone
I had a drink with a few Aussie's and had "no problem" with them

In fact the only "hassle" I got was from a few ladyboys hanging out in front of a Mini-Mart outside my Hotel (Thara Patong) wanting to give me "Massage" but I wouldn't really call that "hassle"
