Try asking them where you can find good Thai food, I never found it a problem though it is necessary to ask for "spicy" for authentic chilli levels.

If that is too much, then asking for "falang spicy" gets the message across.

Thais think we all like our food bland, if one dickhead complained once then we will all get stuck with tasteless food. Drives me crazy !!

Found a big difference in the place and the people last year.
Went to phuket 2000 and enjoyed the place ,found the people friendly and the whole vibe good.
Went back last year, and what a change. Ok i realise places change, there was only 2 streets in 2000 now 4 deep with fuck off hotels everywhere. What i noticed the most was the attitude of the folks there, locals and holidaymakers a like.
The locals have been blinded by the baht!
Before anyone hawks on that patts,bkk are the same, they have been like that for as long as anyone can remember!
This was just my observation last year!
But 2 points that should be taken into consideration;

1; I was with the misses, if i was alone i wouldn't have had the time to spend picking fault as i would have been with an lb enjoying......

2; I hadn't been there for 7 years, and places change

Went over to phi phi, what a shit hole that has turned into, full of gap year pricks asking if this is your first time man!!
Don't these little cunts realise that thailand has been having visitors for fucking years.
Mind you had a hair cut there by a femboy and i wouldn't normally go for femboys, but this was cute, made a right hash of my bonce.
What was interesting was when the femboy was cutting my hair, she was very close,to close, very enjoyable but i don't think she realised i knew she was a femboy, highlight of my trip to phi phi. If only the misses wasn't in the next shop i would have been there like a shot. Reality is when there is a ladyboy drought a

Would i go back to phuket YES, phi phi NO.

Phuket is far better than Pattaya, which is for "low rent" Eastern European tourists and cheap charlies.When I went there "once" the beaches were dirty both the front beach and Jomtien,the bars were full of drunken yobs and the p4p scene was low rent.
Soi Bangla,Cocktails & Dreams have a parade of talent.
I had the best arse on my face in Phuket in Jan this year, from one of the C&D girls.I came just eating it.
Bangkok is also a great place as most of us know.Hundreds to choose from.
I only wish that Hua Hin had a few dozen, but as the King hangs out there it is very unlikely.
Stogie, you should just make the effort and get down there.Then provide us with a REAL review.

Nice to see so many different opinions about Bucket, and I do agree that the beaches there are better than the sewage laden grit at Pattaya.

But if I want a decent beach in Thailand I'll look at the many other places where I don't have to share with hundreds of sun-bedded package tourists, being ripped off by greedy tuk-tuk drivers and bar/restaurant owners.

The only commendable thing about Bucket is Tootsie's, which I hope someone has the wit to franchise to Bangkok and Pattaya some time soon.

just hop on a motorbike and head south to Kata Noi or north to Bang Tao or Surin or even Kamala

the area around Patong, becoming another Pattaya south [yuucch], is what you describe above.....as soon as you are 5 miles from there it's paradise.

As I said in an earlier post in this thread, EVEN cheap charlies can do Phuket. As for not finding genuine Thai food in Patong, where the fuck were you eating..... McDonalds? .... there are HUNDREDS of little genuine Thai places with few or no Farang to eat at. A number of them even have LB eating at them after hours. There's a lot to Patong and region, sometimes you just have to open your eyes to what's about.
