Am I missing something here? I am beginning to wonder exactly what it is I should be looking for or even missing.
    Maybe it's the beach?

I still dont see what has changed - in the 6 years or so I have had a house here - its been pretty much business as usual. Maybe I was expecting more in the last 2 nights being out and about. Dont get me wrong, I love the nightlife of Pattaya - its just thats its still the same as it always has been. OK some of the bars have changed, the girls have moved around a bit but basically the average night is still the same as I have been enjoying for the last couple of years.

You could just swap Didi's and Hi-boss for 131 and Litas (ok not comparable in terms of decor, but the lineups are pretty much the same.)

      Cheers

Well - I've only been a regular in Pattaya for three years but I'd say there was a huge difference to the city in terms of ladyboys than three years ago. More ladyboy bars, more GGbars with ladyboys, more ladyboys in the GG bars... The amount of streetwalkers is about the same as it ever was... also an elevation of talent as well as just numbers. More better looking ladyboys more with operations and more femboys without...

The most startling evidence to support my case is that the Pattaya ladyboy scene is recession proof. While all the GG bars are slowing noticeably and there is an obvious and clear downturn of general trade this summer the lb bars and lbs are raking it in.

If you really think that the lb scene in Pattaya is the same as it was six years ago ("business as usual!") then I wish I had been here then! Because right now it's rocking!

I think in the past Pattaya had been under appreciated on this Forum.

I prefer Pattaya over BKK because in a resonably priced hotel in Pattaya you can get FOX News whereas in BKK you have to stay somewhere like the Westin, Sheraton or ShangriLa to get FoX. You cannot even get FOX at Majestic Grande. Okay-start the flames.

I listen to Fox, too. Not because I want to learn anything - but because they don't have 5 minute breaks between every story like the BBC and CNN (and also I can't get Al Jazeera.)

Fox politics maybe a joke but it's entertaining and doesn't spend 10 minutes on a totally irrelevant weather forecast for a crap country I don't care about.

(Stewart @ Aug. 09 2007,16:13) PS - I had actually been wondering if Guess Bar was hurting with many of its best customers spending more and more time in Pattaya???

Pattaya always has been a great place to find Ladyboys, two out of the three areas that I lived in when in Pattaya for 6 years had Ladyboys staying in the same appartment block. always a good selection and eager for a night cap

So long as Guess Bar continues to deliver good service, fair pricing and value I dont think anyone need get too concerned. And June revenue was the highest of any month so far, with July down about 15% on June - which was expected due to the reduction in business travellers due to the holiday period - hence the tactical promotion on half price barfines.

Unlike other bars I could mention, Guess continues to increase its salaried staff numbers and volumes of customers without needing to increase drink prices to make up for losses. I noticed one bar in Pattaya has increased some of its prices by up to 20% in last month or so and many drinks are equal to or more expensive than those charged by Guess Bar. So much for the 'much cheaper' Pattaya experience in one bar at least.

                        Cheers
